Australia Ball at the Brewers

Next Friday (27 Jan) the gang at the Two Brewers will be coming over all Aussie to celebrate Australia Day. There’s going to be a definite Down Under feel to Australia Ball as the hunks and hotties from the London Titans present this glorious didgeridoo of a club night. Expect cabaret from those two little boomerangs of cabaret, Crystal D’Canter and Kelly Mild, aka CK, plus the ripper tunes will be sizzling on the barbie from DJs Demon and
Liam Chaplin.

Cabaret at Halfway II Heaven

There’s always something fun happening at the Boyz Award-winning cabaret mothership that is Halfway II Heaven at Charing Cross. Heather and her team provide brilliant karaoke with Kevin Walsh and some of the best cabaret acts on the scene. This Friday (20 Jan) the one and only Sandra takes to the stage while the next day sees another action-packed Saturday starting at 3pm with Mrs Moore followed by Rose Garden and come evening it’s The Vixens with DJ Justin Swift. Sundays are of course all about those fluffy kittens of mirth and song, Crystal and Kelly, aka CK. And news just in: on Saturday 28 January the lovely Mary Mac will be hosting a post-Burns Night special.

Drag Idol 2017

As we head into 2017, plans are already being laid for this year’s Drag Idol contest. The UK’s most successful and popular gay cabaret contest will launch on Wednesday 29 March with a party at the Two Brewers and will feature performances by several previous winners including this year’s hosts CK. Heats will begin at the end of April across the whole the UK so be sure to keep an eye on the website for details of how to apply (dragidoluk.co.uk).

Cancer is a Drag at the RVT

This Wednesday (25 Jan) there’s a fundraiser for Cancer is a Drag at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Hosted by Doctor Woof, the night will feature Drag Idol 2015 champ Danny Beard plus Ripley, Heart & Soul, Miss Krystal Ball, Strawberry Whip and more. Tickets are on sale now at eventbrite.com.

Meth and the Grumpy Centimetre

Back by popular demand at Her Upstairs in Camden this Friday (20 Jan) is Meth and the Grumpy Centimetre, a night devoted to the queer cult musical extravaganza, Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Hosted by Meth, the night features Dusty Limits, Ruby Wednesday and more. 

Glamorous at Club Aquarium

Hot Sunday night club Glamorous is back in its new home this Sunday (22 Jan) at Club Aquarium on Old Street. Kicking off at 11pm you get amazing house from DJs Lance Morgan, Kruel Intentions, Jereome Kidman and more.

Dalston Superstore

There’s another fun-filled few days ahead at Dalston Superstore this weekend, kicking off on Friday (20 Jan) with Douchebag featuring DJs Mickey XCX and Laurence Del Rey. Saturday (21 Jan) it’s Club Vada with the brilliant Hannah Holland plus Cathal O’Brian, and then on Sunday (22 Jan) it’s Disco Brunch followed by Last Resort.

Pride’s Got Talent

You can now apply to take part in this year’s Pride’s Got Talent contest. This popular competition gives new and emerging talent in the LGBT+ community the chance to perform onstage at Pride in London. The SM Gays are back

The gang from SM Gays have set up home at a new venue in Vauxhall. This monthly workshop for guys curious about all aspects of the fetish scene is on this Thursday (19 Jan) at Protocol, which is part of Fire. The theme will be Rope Bondage and starts at 8pm.

Mastery’s 3rd Birthday

If tough guys in leather and rubber are your thing then this Saturday (21 Jan) head to The Backstreet in Mile End for Mastery’s 3rd Birthday. The dress code will be strictly leather and rubber only and will be packed out with dirty bastards of all kinds.

The HIV Monologues

The HIV Monologues is the play by Patrick Cash that tells stories of sex, AIDS, PrEP and love on the gay scene. This hugely entertaining piece is both moving and funny and is back for a two-week run from Thursday 2 February in the Miranda space at the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch.
