Review: Scott Cappuro’s Gay Turnaround at the Soho Theatre

Scott Cappuro’s Gay Turnaround at the Soho Theatre

Fast and furious, quick and clever, Mr Capurro’s delivery of his material is superb. No stone is left unturned as he verbally attacks via very well constructed gags and social commentary the issues of today. Of course he mentions the Trump fiasco but quickly moves on as he has lots of other subjects to talk about. He is a unique performer and delivers with gusto; a true jester who deserves to bask in the spotlight as he takes centrestage.

The subjects he has very strong opinions about range from gay marriage, race, politics and the scene to social media, cruising, and HIV and AIDS. There were audible gasps from the audience as he made it very clear that his opinion would not be to everyone’s taste and that we were free to leave at any time.

Talking about his relationship with his husband was a true highlight of this very funny set. With lines like “My husband wanted a dreamy honeymoon, so I gave him a sleeping pill” you get the tone of this comedy gold.

I loved this and would seriously recommend a trip to the Soho Theatre to catch his show. Mr Capurro is a sensational stand up; a wonderful headlining act.
