The winner of this year’s Best DJ Boyz Award Lady Lloyd lives it up at the Life Ball in Vienna and hopes to one day live in Las Vegas.
Where are you from originally?
I’m an Essex girl I’m afraid.
And where do you live now?
I live in Fitzrovia, alone at the moment. I don’t do partners or pets, eww.
What do you love about London?
The variety of cock. I hope Brexit does not have an effect on this.
What was the first gay venue you visited?
The original Ku Bar on Charing Cross Road, probably going back about 15 years now. I remember doing cartwheels in the bar and then throwing up in the toilets.
Favourite club/bar/venue in London and why?
Ku Bar because anyone who works there will tell you it feels like being part of a family. It’s very special. And doing Bombshell with my best friend Tasty Tim is a joy, our customers are so colourful. If you’ve not been, come!
What was the last theatre show you saw?
Not very highbrow but The Book of Mormon. I’d seen it before numerous times, it’s so fucking hilarious.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Listening to my Whigfield albums. She has five! You won’t believe me but it’s true. They are called Whigfield I, Whigfield II, Whigfield III, 4, and W – ha!
Biggest extravagance?
Expensive perfume probably. I love niche fragrances. I’m wearing Putain des Palaces at the moment, which translates to ‘The Palace Whore’. I mean, if you dress like a hooker you should smell like one too.
Best gift you’ve ever received and why?
I once received a £20k pearl and diamond necklace from a Saudi prince. I didn’t realise he was a prince at the time. Only thing is it broke the night he gave me it and I threw it away, only to be told the next day how much it was worth. I thought it was plastic! Gutted or what.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Opening and closing the Vivienne Westwood fashion show and doing her advertising campaigns. That was my first modelling job. Talk about start at the top – shame the only way was down since.
If you could go back in time which year would you choose and why?
1996 so I could live through the Spice Girls mania again. What a time to be alive.
What’s the best party you’ve ever been to and what made it so good?
Probably the Life Ball in Vienna, which is in support of AIDS research. My gosh, is it an extravaganza?! Everyone should get to go at least once; I’ve never seen anything like it.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
‘If in doubt, go out’ from the incomparable Princess Julia.
Who is your LGBT hero and why?
Lady Bunny, without a doubt. She’s my favourite ever drag queen and is so on point in her show Trans-Jester, where she breaks down PC culture with such wisdom. Beg for a ticket when she comes back in March.
Who are the most entertaining people you follow on Twitter and why?
Jonathan Harvey, the writer behind Beautiful Thing and Gimme Gimme Gimme amongst many others. His humour cracks me up, I mean he is the fool behind Linda La Hughes after all! I also never miss a tweet from David Russell who manages Sia – he’s on the ball politics-wise, supportive, kind and gorgeous.
Where in the world would you like to visit before you die and why?
I’ve already been a few times, but it’s my dream to live in Las Vegas at some point. It’s my favourite place in the world.
What is one thing you wish you knew when you were younger?
That nothing really matters.
