Drag Idol Reporter at the Old Ship: Friday 5th May
It’s been another busy week across the UK for Drag Idol heats with Aura Jay going through at Quay Pride, Roxx at Via in Manchester, Polly Amorous at Mary’s in Cardiff and more.
In London we saw Lick Von Dyke win at Halfway II Heaven, at the RVT Ginzilla won his heats at both the Two Brewers and the Admiral Duncan, and Dixie Delight won on Sunday at Central Station.
On Friday we were at the Old Ship in Limehouse for their first heat this year, which was hosted by the always entertaining Mandy Gap. The judges were Chamonix Aspen, Candy Slag In Drag and Victoria Sponge who were treated to three quite different acts with Oliver Webber, Manila Rice and Trannysaurus Rex. After much deliberation the judges decided to put all three acts through to the venue’s heat final. And if that wasn’t enough, the Old Ship’s second heat is on Friday 19 May.
This week Her Upstairs in Camden joins the 2017 competition plus heats continue across the country – check out the Drag Idol website and swish new app for details.
This year’s eventual winner of Drag Idol will not only win a paid gig in all 21 venues across the UK and the chance to perform live at Pride In London, they will also be going to Italy to take party in the Gay Summer Pride courtesy of the amazing Italy Gay Travels. We recommend you check out their website for details of this exciting festival and the marvellous holiday options (italygaytravels.com).
