Scene News: Ku Bar, XXL Bear Pride, Two Brewers, The RVT

XXL Bear Pride

This year’s XXL Bear Pride is going to be bigger and sexier than ever as Mark Ames is joining forces with both the Two Brewers and Eagle London for a four day bear celebration. On Friday (26 May) there are special parties at Men Inc. at Eagle and Ruggercub at the Brewers. On Saturday XXL at Pulse welcomes guest DJ Moto Blanco plus there’s cabaret from Myra DuBois, Sherry Vine and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Miss Peppermint. On Sunday (28 May) there’s a special party at Horse Meat Disco at Eagle as well as Fusion at Pulse with DJ Pagano in the main room with more guests plus a Meat room with Jon Pleased Wimmin and Mark Moore. The final event is on Bank Holiday Monday (29 May) with the XXL Bear BBQ at Eagle London and the whole weekend will be fundraising for the Albert Kennedy Trust. Book tickets now at xxl-london.com.

Ku Bar’s bank holiday

Bank holiday weekends are always heaps of fun at Ku Bar and this weekend they will be celebrating the artwork of scene legend Mark Wardel, aka TradeMark. Plus on Saturday (27 May) those boys will be working those moneymakers extra hard as the bar and Klub is open until 5am!

Trannie Lennox back at the RVT

There’s loads on offer for the bank holiday weekend at the RVT with Push the Button on Friday (26 May), a screening of the film I’m Still Queer from midday and then Duckie in the evening on Saturday (27 May), plus Northern thrush Myra DuBois on Sunday. On Bank Holiday Monday (29 May) there’s the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Cancer Research fundraiser from 1pm and later Retro Monday with the amazing Jonathan Hellyer, of DE fame, with his hilarious Scottish alter ego Trannie Lennox. Not to be missed!

Pride In London at the Brewers

The jewel in the glittering cabaret crown of the Two Brewers bank holiday weekend will be their Pride In London Fundraiser on Bank Holiday Monday (29 May). Hosted by Miss Penny the line up includes Miss Jason, Sandra, CK, Tanya Hyde, Rose Garden and many more.

Halfway’s weekend

Halfway II Heaven may be on the cosy side but they have loads on offer all over the bank holiday weekend kicking off with performances from both Martha D’Arthur and Lola Lasagne on Friday (26 May). Saturday sees Mary Mac, Rose Garden and The Vixens doing their thing and then it’s CK’s Bank Holiday Sunday followed by Tanya Hyde with karaoke on Bank Holiday Monday.

Birmingham Pride

Birmingham Pride has an amazing line up next weekend. Over the two days you can see performances from Dua Lipa, Gabrielle, Basement Jaxx, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sigla and loads more.
