Her Upstairs is London’s most fabulous new homo haunt. It’s going all out for its first Pride with a day stuffed with amazing things and beautiful gubbins. Here’s a look at the gorgeousness in store and we hear from Meth.
Pride has a special place in the hearts and minds of Meth, George and Joe at Her Upstairs as Meth reveals below. For this, their first Pride they have a special day planned.
The fun starts at 3pm with a four hour lip sync marathon raising cash for Mermaids UK, the charity that supports gender identity issues in children and anyone is welcome to have a go. Following this they launch into a full blown cabaret spectacular with Vinegar Strokes, Holestar and Myra DuBois. As it’s Pride they will be open extra late and the club will be full of pop up cabaret including Ruby Wednesday, Mynxie Monroe, Tayce Winner of Season Three of Not Another Drag Competition and the incredible TeTe Bang who will be bringing you a pop up version of Jingle Mingle plus Holestar too.
The whole day will be hosted by the dynamic duo of Meth and Herr, both of whom will probably need some of the delicious food supplied by Piab’s Vegan Junk and a lie down on Sunday we suspect. Meth told us exactly why Pride is special to her and the boys: “It is a lesser known fact that Pride 2016 was the day Her Upstairs was conceived. Born out of a love for creating a camp queer space in Camden. So for Pride 2017 we are celebrating by doing just that, having a camp ol’ day celebrating the queer community that calls Her Upstairs home, because #lovehappensqueer”.
Entry is free before 7pm, £5 with wristband available in Soho on the day and in advance from the bar, £7 without.
