XXL Lumberjack this Saturday

As the song says ‘I’m a Lumberjack and I’m OK’ and this Saturday (5 Aug) you can get on your checked shirt, grab that chopper and go searching for something to fell at XXL Lumberjack. DJ Moto Blanco will be joining the chopping party of Paul Morrell, Alex Logan, David Robson and Joe Egg. Timber!

Cancer is a Drag at RVT

This Thursday (3 Aug) there’s a very special fundraiser for Cancer is a Drag in honour of the late Vanilla Lush. Hosted by Doctor Woof the show will feature Rose Garden, Martha D’Arthur, Mrs Moore, Baga Chipz, Miss Penny, Tanya Hyde, Craiger Bell, Topsie Redfern and loads more. Ruggercub in Brewers weekend

It’s all go this weekend at the Two Brewers starting on Thursday (3 Aug) with the amazing Danny Beard. Friday is Ruggercub with special guest Charlie Hides as Lisa Q Jones plus DJs Phill Marriott and Demon and then Saturday is Sandra. Ku Kabaret on Sunday

If you want something rather different and exciting this Sunday (6 Aug) then head to Klub, downstairs at Ku Leicester Square for Ku Kabaret. Starting at 7pm you get the marvellous and award-winning hostess Jacqui Swallows plus a glittering array of special guests.

Duke of Welly pub quiz

If you love a pub quiz – and quite frankly who doesn’t? – then every Wednesday head to the Duke of Wellington for Didn’t They Do Welly hosted by Topsie Redfern and Martha D’Arthur on rotation. It is a hoot.

King Kong at The Vaults

King Kong (A comedy) is on now at The Vaults, SE1 and is running until 27 August. Described as a ‘glorious mash up of Mel Brooks and Monty Python’ this hilarious show puts a new spin on the classic monster story of beauty meeting an actual beast. Tickets at kingkongcomedy.com.

Joe Orton’s Crimes of Passion

The National Justice Museum in Nottingham has a free exhibition running now until October called Crimes of Passion, that celebrates the work of Joe Orton. There’s also a show called What the Artist Saw, a collection of artwork inspired by the life and work or Joe Orton on now at the University of Leicester.

Out 4ladsin2lads at Protocol

Out is a new weekly Friday night party at Protocol described as ‘4ladsin2lads’ with amazing DJs, go-go boys, a cruise terrace and some seriously hot guys from 10pm – 3am.

LGBT poetry night 

This Sunday (6 Aug) head to the Tipsy Bar in Dalston for their regular open mic LGBT poetry night featuring spoken word and live music in a funky venue from 6pm.
