Voting is now open in the Boyz Awards 2018, just go to the website archive.boyz.co.uk, click on the banner and off you go. There’s a host of scene themed categories featuring bars, clubs, performers, DJs, bar staff, hosts, Prides and more, plus four awards sponsored by our sister mag DirtyBoyz. But Boyz is much more than a scene magazine and here we look at some of the other categories you can vote in.
Best Play or Musical
There’s an incredible range of plays, musicals and other theatre shows in this exciting category this year. Last year Jinkx Monsoon’s show The Vaudevillians won, but perhaps this year it will be something hard hitting like The Chemsex Monologues or Southern Baptist Sissies, of maybe David Hoyle, Pam Ann or The Golden Girls?
Best Panto or Christmas Show
This is the category with the least nominations but one that is fiercely fought over with the Two Brewers and Above The Stag battling it out for the top spot in the last few years, but now The RVT and Her Upstairs are in there with a real shot too.
Best Theatre Venue
Which actual theatre do you go to the most and which one do you think is the best? Tell us which of the venues listed is the overall winner. Last year it was Above The Stag.
Best LGBT+ Film
In 2017 there were many films with an LGBT+ theme or with appeal to our readers, check out the long list to choose your favourite.
Best Sexual Health Organisation or Clinic
Going to a clinic or speaking to a sexual health organisation shouldn’t be a chore or an unpleasant experience. Last year the team at 56 Dean Street won the award, will they scoop it again?
Best LGBT Sports or Community Group
This category covers sports of all kinds, like the Kings Cross Steelers who won last year, but also music, dance, gaming, books and local LGBT forums.
Best Charity
Have your say in this new stand along category that includes a mix of charities aimed at helping the LGBT+ community and some that are supported by the community in bars and clubs.
Boyz Awards 2018 Party
Once you have voted all you need to do is decide what you are wearing for the Boyz Awards 2018 party at the Two Brewers on Thursday 22 February. People from all these categories and the scene ones will be there hanging on every word uttered by our hosts Myra DuBois and Lola Lasagne as they unseal those envelopes. Plus there will be a performance by Drag Idol 2017 winner Tracy Barlow.
The Boyz Awards 2018 Party is at the Two Brewers on Thursday 22 February from 7pm, show starts at 9pm.
