Seven Days: XXL, Ku Bar, The RVT, The White Swan and more!

Nothing compares to Ku

“It’s been seven hours and fifteen days…” Actually it’s been a lot longer; Ku Bar moved its flagship venue to Lisle Street on Valentine’s Day 2007, meaning tonight (Wed 14 Feb) the team at Ku Bar Leicester Square will be celebrating its 11th birthday with a loved-up party from 6pm. Expect all those topless hunks we’ve come to know and love over the years serving behind the bar, a free drink for everyone for a toast at 7pm sharp, plus fun and frivolity from hosts Nieko and Vicki Vivacious, and loads more. The party keeps going until the early hours down in the Klub too. Happy birthday guys!

Backroom’s Valentine’s Special

Backroom DJs Sam Londt and Liam Chaplin are back at the Two Brewers in Clapham this Friday (16 Feb) with their Valentine’s Special from 9pm. And it’s a traffic light party, meaning you should wear green if you’re single and open to meeting new guys, amber or yellow if you’re tempted or in an open relationship, and red if you’re taken, happy and off limits. Happy Hour runs from 5pm until 8pm, entry if free before 10pm or £7 after, and the party keeps going until a cool 4am.

Your weekend starts early at The RVT

The fab Dusty Limits hosts Absolute kUNST at the RVT on Thursday (15 Feb), starring Glory Pearl, Laura Moody and Ruby Wednesday on stage, along with Michael Roulston on the keys. Your Friday evening is kicked off with Graham J and the Cabaret Noir making their London debut from 7pm, and this is followed by club night BEEFMINCE from 10pm, complete with vocal house with chunky basslines from resident DJs are Silverhook and Cactushead. Feel sexed up at Cybil’s House

Nine-foot-tall hirsute drag queen Cybil War is back at the White Swan with another edition of her super fun party this Saturday (17 Feb). Expect a celebration of all things sexual at this anti-Valentine’s Day special, plus a portion of the proceeds will be going directly to help the National AIDS Trust, because as we all know, safer sex is the sexiest. So shine up that rubber, throw on your best harness and let’s get sexy! Valid photo ID is a must for entry and tickets can be bought via bjswhiteswan.com

On Saturday (17 Feb) you get laughs-aplenty with ‘her off the telly’, Miss Myra DuBois from 9.30pm, while on Sunday that hussie from Brighton, Drag With No Name, is back in the East End for more bants and shiz, again from 9.30pm.

Foul Pages opens at the Hope

The world premiere of Foul Pages begins a run at the Hope Theatre from Tuesday (20 Feb). It’s an outrageous comedy set in 1603 whereby William Shakespeare and the Countess of Pembroke struggle with the rewrites of As You Like it, which must appeal to the new King James I’s merciful nature and seduce him into releasing the condemned Sir Walter Raleigh. Think you know your Shakespeare? Think again! Book tickets via thehopetheatre.com
