Christopher Wellbelove re-elected as Mayor of Lambeth

Christopher Wellbelove has been re-elected as Mayor of Lambeth for 2018-19. having previously served as Mayor from 2009-10. Christopher has chosen to focus his year as Mayor on suicide prevention and mental health. Whilst women are more likely than men to have common mental health problems, men are more likely to kill themselves. And we know that young LGBT+ people are more likely than other young people to harm themselves or try and take their lives – in the trans community this rises even higher. Christopher told us: ‘As someone who has suffered with depression and anxiety for all my adult life, I know all too well how these illnesses can impact lives. One of the things that helped me through counselling was understanding I was not alone, that what was happening to me was shared by many others.’

There will be a celebration of Christopher’s re-election as Mayor on Sunday 3 June at the Two Brewers from 6pm.
