Soap at Underbelly on the Southbank: Press night review by Stephen Vowles

WOW and more WOW! Who knew bath time could get so sexy? This incredible show is captivating from the start, combining high drama with huge comedy moments. The show is exhilarating in demonstrating what the human body is capable of. The ensemble circus performers form shapes and show command of core strength that is simply immaculate.

Soap is balletic in execution and abundantly homoerotic. The cast, notably Mortiz Haase and Daniel Leo Stern on the high rope trapeze seem to be able to defy gravity. With juggling by Adem Endris Yenam taken to a whole new level and similar acts of skill performed by Lena Ries, Vanessa Alvarez and Marie-Andree Lemaire the power and intensity of the show builds and builds leading to the finale featuring a mesmerising Anton Belyakov doing somersault back-flips whilst in the bath with water pouring down. A breath-taking fusion of world-class acrobatics and water. Riotously fun and supremely spectacular. A must see for sure. Hugely recommended.
