The Two Brewers Royal Wedding Fete

This Saturday, the team at the Two Brewers in sunny Clapham will be going overboard on the bunting as they throw an actual garden fete alongside the venue to celebrate Harry and Meghan’s big day. There’s going to be music, cabaret and loads more. Dave Cross spoke to Brewers guv’nor Jimmy Smith to find out more.

Hi Jimmy, what time are you opening on Saturday and what’s the plan?

We will be opening at 11am and screening the wedding on the screens live inside the venue. We are working with Wandsworth Oasis raising money for Mildmay Hospital, so will be asking everyone for a £3 donation.

What happens after that?

Once the main ceremony is over we’ve got the London Gay Big Band playing outside, in the area next to the Brewers that we use for the Street Party. I think the band will be on at about 1.30pm and they will have some guest singers with them.

And this is where the wedding fete will be set up?

Yes, it’s going to be like a proper garden fate with stalls selling cakes and other food like sandwiches and more. There will also be a tombola, a Pimm’s bar, loads of picnic tables, oh and the guys at Oasis are making a wedding cake. It’s going to be camp and a lovely way to spend the afternoon and evening.

What entertainment will there be?

The London Gay Big Band are outside and then from about 4pm we’ve got cabaret inside and people can come and go between the two.

Who’s the cabaret?

First up is Miss Jason at about 4pm, then we have Mary Mac, Sandra and Lola Lasagne, all doing a full show each. Plus there will be other surprises too.

It sounds great, what else do we need to know?

We are getting in a load of toy crowns for people to wear, but if you want to dress up that would be brilliant. Basically we are open from 11am right through until 4am Sunday morning. It’s going to be a great way to celebrate a fantastic day and I can’t wait.

Entry is £3 donation before 10pm.
