Hello Duchess, how’s life in sunny Greenwich?
Oh I’m full of the joys of spring. What’s not to like? The nights are getting lighter and I don’t have to hang from the rafters quite as long.
What do you have planned for this May Day bank holiday weekend?
The May Day bank holiday is one of my favourites and we have a fun packed week planned, starting with Kevin Walsh’s Karaoke on Wednesday from 8pm. It’s a great night with so much talent on offer and everyone is welcome to come and join in. On Thursday it’s Ian Parker’s piano bar with Crystal D’Canter at 9.30pm and on Friday night we have cabaret from Miss Terry Tour at 11pm and DJ Grant until 4am. Saturday night sees the always popular and hilarious Titti La Camp at 11pm and DJ Spark until 4am. And then Super Bank Holiday Sunday brings us three amazing acts with Mary Mac at 6pm, Tony Sinclair at 8pm and Miss Jason at 10pm, followed by DJ Grant until 4am, and as there’s no work the next day it will be a busy one.
What are you doing for Eurovision the week after?
Straight after bank holiday weekend, without a moment to lose, we are straight into Eurovision. We are showing the semi-finals on Tuesday and Thursday early evening, hosted by Myra DuBois, and I’m sure we will be treated to some lovely wit and humour from her acidic gob. Myra is also hosting our main Eurovision Final party on the Saturday and rounding it all off with a cabaret spot afterwards. She may need a rent book she will be here that much!
And the royal wedding, obviously Meghan and Harry have invited you, but what’s happening at the pub?
Sadly I couldn’t perform at the wedding. I know they are heartbroken, but we will be raising a glass to them here at the George and Dragon.
Finally, I hear you’ve got a big charity fundraiser for the bank holiday at the end of May? Tell us all.
Yes, on the spring bank holiday weekend, at the end of May, we have a charity fundraiser organised to support St Christopher’s Hospice. They provided such beautiful care for our dear friend Julian Roper, who died recently. The event will be on bank holiday Monday 28 May and will be hosted by Saucy Sophie with a fantastic cabaret line up. I’m overwhelmed already by the amount of support this event is getting from everyone. It’s obvious that Julian was loved by everyone on the cabaret circuit from the response of those willing to give their time up for such a worthy charity. I’m sure it’s going to be a very special night.
