This is not a drill; we are just over a week from Pride in London 2018! It’s already looking like this will be a sensational day and weekend, because don’t forget UK Black Pride in on Sunday 8 July as well. Here’s a look at some of the things you need to know.
The Parade – from midday
Watching the Pride in London Parade is the only way to start your Pride day, unless you’re one of the hundreds of people talking part in it, of course. Groups from every walk of the LGBT+ community, including health groups, bars and clubs, political groups, LGBT+ military and people of every gender from all over the world, will be on floats or trucks or walking in amazing costumes or uniforms. The Parade starts at 1pm near Baker Street Tube and goes down Oxford Street into Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus and ends up at Trafalgar Square.
Trafalgar Square – 11.45am – 8pm
The Main Stage in Trafalgar Square is the cornerstone of Pride in London, a mix of entertainment and speeches covering every aspect of the LGBT+ world. Hosted by Michael Twaits, the afternoon will include performers and the winners from Pride’s Got Talent Music and Cabaret, performances from Above The Stag Theatre and casts from West End shows, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Courtney Act, Mzz Kimberley, The Gay Men’s Chorus, Alyssa Edwards, SuRie, The London Gay Big Band and much more.
Other West End stages – from 12.30pm
The whole of Soho and much of the West End will be transformed on Saturday into a glittering rainbow celebration complete with a number of other Pride in London official stages. The Women’s Stage returns to Leicester Square with DIVA Magazine and some amazing acts including Heather Peace, Betty, Sinitta and more. The Cabaret Stage on Dean Street includes a host of acts from Pride’s Got Talent, Drag Idol and more including Kara Van Park, Vinegar Strokes, Sum Ting Wong, FKA, Adam All, Dolly Trolly, Tayce and more. Golden Square hosts the Family Stage for a colourful, fun-filled day of Pride with activities to keep the whole family entertained. And Soho Square is the Community Village with stalls and loads more from a variety of organisations.

Don’t forget that the Pride in London Festival is on now and is packed with hundreds of amazing events across London right up until Saturday 7 July. The day after Pride in London, Sunday 8 July, sees UK Black Pride in the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, next the The RVT, from midday to 8pm, and will feature an amazing selection of performers and speakers from across the LGBT POC community.
