Brighton Pride 2018: Get the parties started

Brighton Pride is only two weeks away and it will be taking over the gorgeous seaside resort for the whole of the first weekend in August. Yes, there’s the Parade and two days of massive fun in Preston Park, including Britney on Saturday and Chic on Sunday, but there’s so much more to the multi-award-winning weekend of LGBT+ celebration. There’s a whole series of parties and events happening across the weekend, all of which you can see on brighton-pride.org, but here’s just five that took our fancy.

Pride Goes Pop with Bombshell

Friday 3 August at Pride Pleasure Gardens, 10pm – late

No one does pop better than Lady Lloyd and the gang from Bombshell and we are promised a ‘glamour-tastic explosion of pop and commercial dance music’. This is the official pre-Pride warm-up party and will feature drag queens, drag kings, club kids, live shows and more, plus it’s free entry before 11pm.

Pecs at Club Tropicana

Friday 3 August at Pride Pleasure Gardens, from 7pm

Fresh from their sold out show at the Soho Theatre, London’s premier drag king troupe, Pecs Drag Kings, are bringing their hit show to Brighton Pride. These boys will tease, please and bring you to your knees with lip syncs to make you tingle and dances to get you grooving – while they break that gender binary, smash the patriarchy and show you how to stick it to the man in style.

Sink The Pink presents Ta Da!

Saturday 4 August, at Pride Pleasure Gardens, 10.30pm – late

Ta Da! at Club Tropicana will feature everything we love about the totes gorgeous Sink The Pink. It will be a camp-tastic, high octane romp with 12 jaw-dropping performances from the diverse drag collective creative whirlwind that is Sink The Pink, plus glorious party tunes in to the wee small hours.

Horse Meat Disco

Saturday 4 August at Patterns, 10pm – 4am

Horse Meat Disco is the world-famous, all-conquering, glitter-wearing, disco-behemoth of a club and it’s back at the gorgeous Patterns club for Brighton Pride. DJs Severino, Luke Howard and guests will be delivering their unique mix of Italo disco, punk funk and the sexiest house you have ever heard to a fabulous party crowd.

The Glory’s Big Gay Barn Dance

Sunday 5 August, at Pride Pleasure Gardens, 2pm – midnight

Yee-hah! The rootin’ tootin’ gang from The Glory will be giving us Wild West realness at Club Topicana on Sunday from 2pm. Served up in three pistol-packing parts, this will be a day to remember featuring some Dolly Parton (who else?), drag shenanigans, a Madonna cabaret special (we loved the cowboy look), and finally the day finishes with an ‘apocalipstick’ of a queer anthem party featuring all your favourite gay bangers.
