Grindr and Penetration at ATS

Above The Stag Theatre in Vauxhall is the UK’s only full time LGBT+ theatre company and it’s just taken up residence in its impressive new home on the Albert Embankment, directly over the road from the gargantuan MI6 building on the river. The new space is twice the size of the old building and now features a new second Studio Theatre where they can put on more experimental and less commercial work. Right now in that space it’s The Penetration Play by Winter Miller, an intriguing story of the complicated web two girls and and one mother can weave. In the Main Theatre it’s the outstanding Grindr: The Opera, a compelling, sexy, funny and moving story of love and dating in the world of the app. Visually stunning, this impressive show makes the most of the larger stage space. Tickets for both shows and upcoming productions are available from abovethestag.com

Myra’s a work of art

Myra DuBois; artiste, woman and muse, is being celebrated with a special exhibition at the Retro Gallery, which is upstairs in the Retro Bar. This very special show honours this ‘esteemed icon of cultural significance’ with a collection of costumes, props, photos, new artwork and much more. There’s a special opening view on Monday (23 Jul) at 7pm with an appearance from the lady herself – tickets for that are £5 from theretarogallerylondon.co.uk, the rest of the week it’s free entry.

Cabaret at the Old Ship

There’s another stonker of a weekend ahead at the Old Ship with a warm welcome from John and the team. On Saturday (21 Jul) it’s the brilliant Miss Terry Tour and on Sunday a newer name in the hilarious shape of Fanny Coil, both due on stage at 9.30pm.

Liza at Zedel

Brasserie Zedel in Soho is a gorgeous venue and in August they have a number of amazing acts to entertain you including the totally brilliant Rick Skye as Liza Minelli with his hit show Liza Live. It’s an extraordinary experience and if you’ve ever loved Liza, and who hasn’t, then grab a ticket – shows are on from 6 to 10 August. Plus for the show Sacred Monster by Lykken there’s a special Boyz 2-4-1 with the code ‘monster241’ when you book at brasseriezedel.com

Push The Button Minogue vs Minogue

Next Friday (27 Jul) those cheeky monkeys from Push The Button at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern will be holding their third referendum, but this is no Brexit twaddle, this is far more important. It’s the latest round of their Minogue vs Minogue tune war… Are you Golden or Neon Lights? Wow or I Begin To Wonder? Jump To The Beat or Celebration? You get the idea. Tickets from Eventbrite.
