Let’s be honest folks, it’s not really a bank holiday weekend without at least one visit to London’s most cherished LGBT+ venue, the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. This weekend they really do have something for everyone including club nights Eurofest and Duckie, Sunday Social and Anthem – both with The DE Experience – plus the RVT Sports Day, Bar Wotever, Tracy Barlow, and they are even roasting Rose Garden on Thursday! Here’s what you need to know.
Eurofest’s Summer Party
Friday 24 August, 9pm – 4am
Start the bank holiday weekend with the UK’s biggest celebration of Europop, Eurovision and schlager hits. You get brilliant DJs plus there’s a special performance from Icelandic Eurovision duo Euroband performing their classic This Is My Life.
Duckie
Saturday 25 August, 9pm – 2am
If it’s Saturday night in London then it has to be a trip to Duckie, the original alternative queer disco and honky tonk. Music comes from The Readers Wifes with host Amy Lamé and Jay Cloth on the door, plus performances from Impermanence Dance and Oberon White, and a fab party crowd.
Sunday Social’s 12-Hour Special
Sunday 26 August, 3pm – 3am
There’s nowhere quite like Sunday Social and for this extended session you get jaw-dropping cabaret from the one and only DE Experience plus gorgeous club tunes from Simon Le Vans, Andy Almighty, David Robson and Craig Jones.
The RVT Sports Day
Bank Holiday Monday 27 August, 1pm – 7pm
The legendary RVT Sports Day is one of our favourite days of the whole year. It’s a crazy afternoon where bonkers teams compete in a series of ever more hilarious games dressed in amazing kits and the whole thing is hosted by the unsinkable Timberlina.
Anthem Retro Monday
Bank Holiday Monday 27 August, 3pm – midnight
Carry on the bank holiday vibe inside The RVT for Anthem’s Retro Monday, with more amazing club classics from Simon Le Vans, Andy Almighty and Sean Sirrs, plus a second helping of the delicious treat that is The DE Experience.
Bar Wotever
Tuesday 28 August, 7pm – midnight
Queer Tuesdays at The RVT are always special thanks to the team from Bar Wotever. Joining host The Nightbus is Margo Marshall plus residents Caroline Smiling and Zayn Phallic, Mike Segelov and many more.
Tracy Barlow : Oracle
Wednesday 29 August, 7pm – midnight
The stars align and Tracy Barlow comes amongst us to reveal her predictions and secrets in this special show that promises to be depraved even by her high standards. She will also be joined by special guests Sadie Sinner and Jim Lavender.
