Divas may come and go, but Madonna is eternal. She’s been having hits and ruling our lives since 1983 and next week our glorious leader turns 60. To celebrate, mega fan and promotor of the L-U-V MDNA parties, DJ David Robson, is throwing a very special party and we are all invited. Madonna – 60 Years of The Queen of Pop is on next Friday (17 Aug) at The Grand in Clapham. A gaggle of cabaret at G&D
We’ve decide that gaggle is the collective noun for cabaret acts and this weekend there’s a perfect example of said gaggle at the George and Dragon in Greenwich. Apart from the omnipresent Duchess you also get the marvellous Lola Lasagne on Friday (10 Aug) and Dave Lynn on Saturday. The gaggle peaks on Sunday with Mary Mac, Sandra and Miss Jason all bringing the big songs and big laughs.
Treat yourself at Above the Stag
If you haven’t been to see a production at Above The Stag in their impressive new home on the Albert Embankment in Vauxhall then have a word with yourself and get those tickets booked now. In the main theatre it’s Grindr: The Opera, a funny, exciting and actually quite moving musical exploration of ‘dating’ apps. The Food Chain Walk 30 for 30
HIV charity The Food Chain kicks off their 30th anniversary year with a 30-mile fundraising walk along the Thames towpath on Saturday 15 September. It starts at Shepperton railway station and will end around London Bridge. You can sign up for the entire 30 miles solo, or take part as a relay team.The choice is yours, but they need each person to aim to raise at least £200.
