The Light Lounge just got sexier above Ku Leicester Square

West End LGBTQ+ cocktail bar the Light Lounge is one of the best places to go for guaranteed affordable cocktails in sexy surroundings, and now it’s added draught beer to its list of delectable drinks. There’s a couple more new additions too, as host Stefanos explains.

We hear there are a few things changing with how Ku Group runs the Light Lounge – what’s happening exactly?

We are turning the space into a more club-dance vibe after 10pm, so that the customers who have had their cocktail experience and discussions can end their night in full swing. Draught beer will be added to the bar as well as exciting tunes from our resident DJs.

So everyone’s still welcome, but it’ll just feel a bit more gay than it used to?

Our gayness never changed! We are gay, we love our venues to be LGBTQ+ based and we want our customers to embrace that no matter what sexuality they have. We are now making the Light Lounge a bit more open and out there, rather than aiming for a private venue. Bookings will still be available but we want to welcome everyone who is also passing by.

For those who have never been to the Light Lounge, how would you describe it?

A classy cocktail bar with a playful allure, ideal for casual meetings, catch ups with friends and – from now on – a night DANCING! Always with first class cocktails, ya know…

What cocktails should we try when we visit and why? Give us three.

I adore coffee! And high quality espresso martinis are rare in London. Espresso martinis come first for me. Then our best selling Sugar Mama – our take on the Pornstar Martini, and our risky Some Like It Hot, complete with a kick from the chilli for the adventurous ones.

Tell us something about the Light Lounge that most people won’t know.

Our table reservation is free of charge. It might sound basic but it’s so rare to book a table with table service in central London without a deposit.

And as Light Lounge is going to merge more with Ku Bar, how’s Ku going? What’s coming up?

It’s going incredibly well. I am so glad to meet new customers every single weekend and greet our regulars. And we have two more special nights in our calendar – Bombshell on Wednesdays, and the well-established P.H.A.T Club queer parties on Thursdays – as we remain a diverse space for the whole of the LGBTQ+ community.
