Welcome to the Welly’s Big Daddy Weekend

The Welly was voted Boyz readers’ favourite bar this year and if you spend just one night there it’s not difficult to see why with its mega friendly staff, delicious cold beer and more than a sprinkling of yummy bears and blokes. For the bank holiday weekend they are bringing us a Big Daddy weekender with some amazing DJs. Dave Cross had a chin wag with manager Oliver to find out more.

Hi Oliver, how’s the summer been at the Welly?

It’s my first summer without that awful scaffolding we had up for 10 months. I had forgotten how insanely busy we are outside during these hot months we’ve been having – it’s been like a street party every weekend and we’ve loved it.

It’s the bank holiday weekend and you’ve got some great DJs lined up, can you tell us about them, starting with Holestar on Friday?

Holestar will be starting our Big Daddy weekender on Friday with only the best hits of the decades, and she’ll charm your socks off too.

What about David ‘Dolly’ Robson on Saturday?

Our official monthly resident will be giving us his synth, pop and disco that you won’t find anywhere else in the bars in Soho. Plus a tribute to Aretha Franklin throughout the night.

And DJ Bunny on Sunday?

From one diva on the decks to DJ Bunny, who will be serving you all the actual divas, from Cher and Celine to Gaga and much more.

And finally, your new night, DILF, with Lady Lloyd on Bank Holiday Monday?

Duke invites all the lovely fellas to our new selection of £2.50 drinks all day promotion. And, let’s be honest, where you find handsome burly men, you will also find Lady Lloyd. She will be dishing up pop classics all night and offering herself on a platter to all the men.

What else do we need to know for the weekend?

It’s the last bank holiday of the year, the sun is going to be out and we are open until 1am Friday to Sunday. We have amazing DJs, the best outside drinking and the friendliest staff to see you through – what else could you possibly want?

What else is coming up in Wellyland?

It’s been a year since we started #BusyLadyBingo and Sheila will be celebrating her one year anniversary with her bezzies, the two Julies from Bad Girls and prizes from the Sheila Simmonds exclusive home shopping channel range. Make sure you book your table for Tuesday 4 September as it’s gonna be busy, busy, busy!

Entry is free.
