The collaboration and cooperation between the three writers of Hot Gay Time Machine – Zak Ghazi-Torbati and Toby Marlow who both perform, and Lucy Moss who also directs – is of the highest standard. Zak and Toby are so in time with each other. Succinct and precise as via exaggerated body gestures, special light effects and sound waves rippling to mimic the sound of passing time, we are taken on a journey through their adolescent, teenage and coming out years; and finally their university period where they met and bonded. This is 75 minutes of total immersive theatre, fabulously frantic and lovingly loud. As performers they exude a confidence that showcases wonderfully original songs that are both alluring and at times poignant. The energy level does not diminish throughout the whole show where the thoroughly entertained audience could only show a huge and enthusiastic response as they took their bows. A triumphant celebration of gay sexuality where the glow of the pink spotlight they both bathed in made for a unique night of cabaret and theatre. These lads are destined for great things.
