Throughout February the good folk from Camden LGBT Forum will be celebrating the history and achievements of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities. In a series of totally inclusive events, they will educate and entertain. Here’s a look at just some of the things on offer.
The Camden and Islington LGBT History Month 2019 really does have something for everyone with everything from art exhibitions, to guided walks, film screenings, drop in sessions for LGBT people needing help or advice, sports, readings, discussion groups, club nights and much more.
The month starts with a special show this Friday (1 Feb) launched at 7pm by the Mayor of Camden, Loudest Whispers. It will feature cabaret from Alex Green, Doctor Woof, Miss Krystal Ball and more at The Conference Centre, St Pancras Hospital.
Also opening on Friday is Making the Invisible Visible: Islington’s LGBTQ+ History, an exhibition that features some of the less well known stories of LGBTQ+ history in the area, at Islington Museum, 245 St John Street, EC1. On Saturday (2 Feb) the fabulous Club Kali are hosting a special party that starts at 10pm with a Bolly pop dance class and continues with a club night celebration, all at 33-34 Rathbone Pl, Fitzrovia, W1.
These events are only the tip of the rather gorgeous iceberg that is the Camden and Islington LGBT History Month. There are also many more talks, exhibitions, library and reading projects, workshops, walks, films, history, things for LGBT families and children and more. There are items aimed specifically at lesbians, trans people and everyone is catered for.
