Ethan Mechare’s quirky and at the same rather hard-hitting comment on making a living by accommodating people’s fetishes is very amusing, brutally honest and also by intimate interaction with his audience, riveting. Mechare’s 90 minute monologue is very well executed and also educational as he explains certain fetishes and what they actually entail.
His use of props adds considerable comic value to the whole piece and when he allows people to comment on things, not by heckling, but by invitation to respond on a remark he has made, also adds to the pace and complete sincerity of the performance. There is no pretence, deceit or hypocrisy here. Mechare admits that by doing what he does this also excites him and goes a long way to fulfil his own fetishes and desires and also putting a smile on his client’s faces – which he also happens to do for his audience.
