CMYK is the exciting new LGBT+ venue in Wimbledon

We live in interesting times, so it’s totally brilliant that a brand new LGBT+ venue has opened in London. CMYK is located in Wimbledon right next to the world famous theatre and is already packing them in. Dave Cross had a quick catch up with Joel Wheeler to find out more.

Hi Joel, we are very excited to get a brand new LGBT+ venue in London, how would you describe CMYK?

CMYK is a luxury bar set in the heart of the LGBT community here in Wimbledon.

Can you explain the name please?

CMYK “Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key” mixing these colours together you create the iconic LGBT flag originally known as the rainbow flag. There’s a fun twist on these initials as the staff say CMYK is “Come Meet Your King”. So for all you Queens out there this is the place for you.

What can you tell us about the team?

CMYK is not just a team we are family. We are made up of creative, passionate, outstanding and brilliant members that look after our clientele. Using each member of staff’s skills and background we create a great team working environment welcoming customers, going above and beyond.

How would you describe the decor and vibe?

On arriving at CMYK, you are greeted by our lovely door staff with a friendly warm welcoming smile. On entering our venue you step into a spacious seating area where you can enjoy the finest cocktails and luxury nibbles whilst watching live drag shows. Overlooking this area we have a VIP/stage area which you can hire out for the evening, parties, birthdays etc.You will also see our premium bar with amazing marble work tops, to keep in with the premium look. At our premium bar we serve the finest wines and Champagne. Cocktails made from scratch, and amazing customer service.

Walking round CMYK you will notice the grand marble staircase leading down to the new dance room. We have kept the original tile work on the walls from the 1920s when our venue was originally used as the local baths in Wimbledon. On arriving downstairs you will be welcomed by our own cloakroom host. We have male and female toilets which are fully stocked with luxury sprays and the finest mints. Downstairs we have our dancefloor which is also tiled with the original tiles still from the 1920s. Down here we have a prologue bar selling the finest beers and spirits.

What’s the location and what are transport links like?

CMYK is located on The Broadway of Wimbledon, next to the New Wimbledon Theatre. We have local bus routes, train routes and also tube links. The main links are District Line and national rail to central London, it only takes 15 minutes.

Can you tell us about some of the cabaret acts you have lined up for the first couple of weeks?

Follow us on social media and you will be updated with our headlines throughout the week from Monday to Sunday. We are on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter. We’ve already had Charlie Hides from RuPaul‘s Drag Race and have lots more amazing acts lined up.

What else do we need to know?
