Charlie Hides 30th anniversary at The RVT

This Sunday (17 Mar) the multi Boyz Award-winning drag sensation Charlie Hides will be celebrating 30 years as a drag performer with a special show at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Charlie’s first paying gig was on 17 March 1989 at the Club Cabaret in Boston, USA along with his comedy partner Gina Germaine and he says,
“I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the sound of applause and quickly became a full-time cabaret act, performing all over New England.” Charlie will be talking about this and much more on Sunday plus there will be tunes from DJs Simon Le Vans and Chris Brogan.

Goodbye Norma Jean at Above The Stag

Goodbye Norma Jean is an untold story from the golden age of Hollywood written by Liam Burke. This fascinating play is about Hollywood choreographer Jack Cole and how the shocking and untimely death of Marilyn Monroe impacted on his life as one of the men behind many stars of the silver screen including Lana Turner, Betty Grable and Rita Hayworth who all appear in the play. Sundowners welcomes Vivienne 

If you want some gorgeous music cabaret with a stylish twist this weekend we recommend a visit to Sundowners in Margate this Saturday (16 Mar). Gracing their stage is the brilliant Drag Idol finalist Vivienne Lynsey with her unique and really rather splendid take on pop classics delivered in a retro style. She’s fab.

Double Trouble at The Old Ship

We feel it’s only fair to warn you gentle reader that if you head to The Old Ship this weekend, you better be prepared for trouble. The Limehouse cabaret venue will be welcoming the mighty Miss Penny on Saturday (16 Mar) and on Sunday it gets even more crazy when Mandy Gap is your cabaret turn. Yikes!

Cabaret at The G&D

Take a deep breath there’s a huge line-up this weekend at The George and Dragon, starting with Mrs Moore on Thursday (14 Mar), Mandy Gap on Friday, Miss Penny on Saturday and on Sunday it’s The Duchess, Tanya Hyde and Tony Sinclair. Phew!

Drag Idol 2019 applications open

Drag Idol is the nationwide cabaret talent contest that has featured winning acts such as Danny Beard, Son of a Tutu, CK, LoUis CYfer, Tanya Hyde, Baga Chipz, Vildea Moppe, Martha D’Arthur, Tracy Barlow and last year’s winner Felix Le Freak, plus many more. The contest is open to all performers of every kind, no matter what your definition of drag or performance is, and regardless of gender. Balans goes West to Ealing
