It’s the Spring bank holiday weekend and the team at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern have a totally gorgeous, totally bonkers and totally RVT few days ahead, in fact we’ve stretched the weekend from Wednesday to Monday. Here’s what’s on and we hear from some of the people involved.

The Cocoa Butter Club RVT Takeover

“The Cocoa Butter Club is a celebration of the capabilities of bodies of colour in entertainment that includes drag queens, burlesque, pole dancers, spoken word, rappers, singers, comedians and lots more. At The RVT takeover we have Rhys’ Pieces, Cleopantha, Lauren King and me, Sadie Sinner as host and performer. Plus two amazing DJs, Malika Green and Mindsofthefrey you can expect old stool funk, R&B, afrobeats and everything cool. As a queer person of colour I’ve always found The RVT a safe space to come and it’s a real milestone to bring our show here this weekend.” Sadie Sinner – Founder and Curator

Duckie

Duckie is the beating heart of nights out at The Riyal Vauxhall Tavern, it’s like no where else on Earth and we love it. Hosted by Amy Lamé with music from Readers Wifes and guests plus tonight there’s also Mike Kelly  Rodent Decay and Derek McLuckie.

Sunday Social Queens of Cabaret 12 hour special

Sunday 26 May, 3pm to 3am

Every Sunday is special at The RVT but these 12 hour bank holiday sessions are the stuff of legend. Today the mighty Charlie Hides has let the hairdresser from hell, Lisa Q Jones out for the day and she’ll be on stage at 5.30pm plus you get music from Simon Le Vans, Andy Almighty, Sean Sirrs and Phil Marriott… Phew!

Beefmince Tea Dance

Bank Holiday Monday 27 May,

“It’s all the usual Beefmince ingredients, but with a daytime twist, very social and the perfect place to finish your bank holiday weekend. The music is house, nu disco, electronica, all very vocal, crossing over with pop and rock, 80s references,  but all very beefy and pumping. Everyone is welcome to Beefmince, men, women, non binary and everyone really, we totally share the values of inclusivity that The RVT has.” Dan and Argyris _ Beefmince
