Club Glitoris at Canal Cafe: Review by Stephen Vowles.

Producer Josh Wilkin along with Holly Salewski and Georgia Young certainly have an eye for talent as they bring their Southend Fringe show, Club Glitoris to London. This impressive show features the performance delights of Fanny Bleach, Jacob Adams, Cakey Fake, Robert Twaddle, Thurstin’ Limbersnake, Kate Butch and MC Lady Snatch, the alter ego of Josh Wilkin, whose style was based on a very simple principal, ‘take no prisoners’.

The acts on this particular bill ranged from the beautiful to the bizarre, with their sexuality being of no importance. These performers are robust, exuberant, acerbic, gloriously glamorous and really rather rude with more than a hint of the vulgar. The art of being an exhibitionist matched with hedonistic behaviour can make for gripping cabaret and Mr Robert Twaddle deserves a special mention. His centre piece performance included a fabulous comedic riff on how horse meat gets into the human food chain that was brilliantly witty. He is a clown and facial contortionist that is destined for big things. Club Glitoris superbly showcases the diversity of the cabaret scene and that the human body is to be admired, even adored and celebrated because it comes in so many shapes and sizes. This show is weird and wonderful raunchy entertainment, packed full of class acts. SV
