Opening Times: Thrilling nights at Circa

Circa The Club, the state of the art late night venue by Embankment station, is going from strength to strength with three party nights every week. Dave Cross had a catch up with General Manager Nieko to talk about those nights and also what’s happening at the cool and funky eatery Hungerford House, located above the club.

Hi Nieko, so how is life at Circa?

Hey hey Boyz! Woah, what can I say? It’s been a full-on end of the summer, and an incredible start to the Autumn/Winter season. We’ve been working with lots of different promoters, from across London and abroad, really bringing the freshest parties to our venues, and it’s given me such pride in seeing gay London coming and celebrating our scene week after week. And, obviously, we’re not stopping there – we’ve got a whole lot more coming up.

We know you’ve now got three nights a week at The Club, can you tell us about Thursdays?

We have indeed. Thursdays start with our RuPaul’s Drag Race UK screening parties, followed by a pop club night till 3am. It’s been brilliant, we decked the club out with huge projection screens, and worked with promoters Klub Kids in bringing hosts such as The Vivienne, Baga Chipz and Cheryl Hole each week – we’ve also got cocktails and popcorn, so it’s been a delicious night every week.

On Fridays, you now have a number of different parties, can you go through those?

Yes. We have two monthly Fridays now – Playground, promoted by Andrew Hoyle and Martin Gilherst, who promise to ‘bring the unexpected’ each month; with a team of house DJs like Matt Bogard, hosts like Chrissy Darling, and more surprises with fire eaters and stilt walkers, that’s on the last Friday of each month. Our other monthly Friday is YASS! party, from the creators of TANGA from Barcelona! They bring all their team of gorgeous Latin DJs, go-go dancers from Spain, and put on a night of pure Latin house hotness on the second Friday of each month.

And the other Fridays?

Every other Friday – is our pure queer celebration night, Friday Vibes, hosted weekly by Brandy X, with guest queer and drag performers, and DJs Sam Londt + Storm Mollison playing the best in commercial house.

We are loving Power House on Saturdays, for anyone who hasn’t been, how would you describe it?

Power House is the name on everyone’s lips, right! We launched at the end of September, and it’s been taken to new heights week after week. Power House is all about feeling like a god, feeling euphoric and just LOVING life. With gay London’s biggest and sexiest go-go team, the Power House boys and DJs turn it out every Saturday night for you. The music is ‘euphoric house’ – think floor-fillers, old school anthems and vocal house.

We are also loving the food and relaxed drinks available at Hungerford House, the restaurant and bar located above The Club, can you tell us what’s in store for Winter and Christmas?

Hungerford House is the lovely oasis of the Circa group; and now the nights are getting slowly darker, our evenings are getting warmer and filled with the smells of wines and food. We’re officially launching our Christmas food menu in the next few weeks – full of three course options, for dates, big corporate bookings, friends celebrations or just casual dinner. Open from midday each day, we also offer brunch during the weekends, with lots of bubbly and cocktails to go with. Book now with us for Christmas at [email protected]

What’s happening at Circa Soho?

The Circa flagship continues to be a Soho hotspot for gorgeous people, gorgeous sounds, and gorgeous drinks. We have Circa’s resident DJs playing each night till 1am – with all the best beats and vibes – as well as the famed Circa bar boys. We run daily cocktail 2-4-1 deals till 7pm, and with the nights getting colder – y’all want to come and warm up with the boys. Get ready for your Circa fix, London.

And finally what are you doing at the club and bar for Halloween?

We love Halloween and we are giving you ‘Stranger Things’ at both venues over three nights with pure prom horror. Both Circa Soho and the Club will be dressed as an American 80s school prom from Halloween on Thursday 31st, Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd. You can expect scary decor, costumes, performers and the best DJs in town at both venues on all night. Don’t say I didn’t warn you… Mwhahahahaha!
