See and Scene: The Two Brewers, Ku, The RVT, Halfway, Above The Stag and more

Loads on the menu at The Brewers 

It’s a packed week at The Two Brewers starting on Thursday (3 Oct) with three fantastic things to lure you to Clapham. The crazy starts with their screening of episode one of Drag Race UK hosted by Tia Kofi with special guests from the show’s UK Pit Crew the delicious Mitch and Ashraf, that’s followed by the special event, Sandra This is your Life with guests Mrs Moore, Kelly Wilde, Dave Lynn and hosted by Boyz’ own Dave Cross all happening in the Club Bar and then even later there’s cabaret from Drag With No Name. Friday starts with Kings Cross Steelers Drag Race contest followed by Ruggercub with Miss Jason and on Saturday it’s Drag Race UK star The Vivienne. Also on Saturday in the Club Bar from 7pm the London Otters LGBT rowing club presents Otters Got Talent a fundraiser presented by fellow Frag Race UK star Baga Chipz. On Sunday it’s Power of Four with those kittens of mirth Myra DuBois, Miss Jason, Mary Mac and Sandra. Phew!

Didn’t They Do Welly

Do you love a pub quiz? We love a pub quiz and especially the weekly one each and every Wednesday at The Duke of Wellington. Didn’t They Do Welly, is the most fun quiz in town and it’s hosted by the gorgeous Martha D’Arthur and Topsie Redfern on rotation. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. 

Busy busy at The RVT 

There’s something for everyone and every taste this weekend at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Thursday (3 Oct) is WOOF x Louche: The Anti-DragRace Revolution, hosted by Chyio and featuring a host of amazing female, trans and non binary performers, a celebration of those bodies not allowed on the TV show, advance tickets have sold out, but you can email [email protected] to check availability. Friday is more ground-breaking cabaret and club fun from The LipSinkers and on Saturday the mighty Duckie with all the usual gang plus Jerry Goldstien, Frank Chickens and The Grateful Tedz. The weekend skids to a slippery climax at Sunday Social when your Queen of Cabaret this week is the amazing Danny Beard plus DJs Simon Le Vans and Craig Jones. 

Velvet at Above The Stag 

Showing now in the Studio Theatre at Above The Stag in Vauxhall is Velvet, written by and starring Tom Ratcliffe it’s the story of a young actor faced with a moral dilemma that resonates in the MeToo Era. Plus don’t forget showing now in the main theatre is Now & Then, the beautiful musical about a gay couple over 40 years. Tickets for all shows, including this year’s panto at abovethestag.com. 

Drag at Ku 

Drag is certainly in the air and those gorgeous boys at Ku Leicester Square on Lisle Street now have two weekly drag infused events.  Every Thursday you get to watch Drag Race UK live in all their venues and at Lisle Street they have hosts and lots more. Then every Sunday Lady Lloyd welcomes you to Ku Drag downstairs in the Klub with special guest performers and full on shenanigans!

It’s a Knockout Final at Halfway

There’s another bumper weekend ahead at Halfway II Heaven with amazing cabaret stars on every single day, and on top of all that, everyone is talking about the grand final of It’s a Knockout 2019 on Tuesday (8 Oct). Hosted by Bette Rinse, a team of industry judges will pick a winner from Passonella, Ava Cardo, Pat Clutcher and Thalia Ostara who have been mentored through the competition by a team of experienced performers. It’s going to be rammed and very special get there early. 

Double fun at The Old Ship

There’s two fantastic acts on at The Old Ship in Limehouse this weekend with Boyz Award-winner Charlie Hides heading East on Saturday (6 Oct) and on Sunday one of the venue’s favourite acts, the sparkling Dusty Springs. 

We Love Thursdays at Circa The Club 

We love Circa The Club and they love Thursdays and that’s the name of their new weekly party. It starts early with a screening of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK hosted by one of its stars, The Vivienne and Klub Kids, then the party continues in to the night with the very best in quality pop and commercial R&B from the Circa DJs, get your tickets from eventbrite.com. Fun at The London Hotel 

We do love to be beside the seaside and especially when we can pop into The London Hotel in Southampton. This Friday (5 Oct) they welcome the original Whore of Hampstead, Sandra, Saturday night it’s DJ Patrick spinning the hits and Sunday Night on The Podium features cabaret from Wilma Fingado.

Permitted Fruit 

Permitted Fruit is the monthly LGBTQ+ comedy night at The Apple Tree in Mount Pleasant, W1 and it’s on this Sunday (6 Oct) at 7pm. It’s a fantastic mix of stand-ups, artists and alternative comics including Joe Sutherland, Christian Adore a.k.a.
