See & Scene: The Two Brewers, Ku Bar, The RVT, Above The Stag, Halfway and more

Your RVT weekend

As always there’s a smorgasbord of delights on offer down in Vauxhall at The RVT starting on Thursday (17 Oct) when The House of Burlesque present The Sex Ed Show featuring Bonnie Knockers and Ruby Corkscrew plus a range of burlesque, drag, cabaret and performance art which explores sex and relationships in all their messy, mundane and mysterious glory. Friday it’s those frisky guys from Beefmince with more club shenanigans, where everyone is welcome. On Saturday there’s two events, from 1pm to 6pm it’s the Queer Fayre from the team behind Bar Wotever that will include a fab and funky market filled with arts and crafts from the whole LGBT+ community. Saturday night is of course the glorious Duckie complete with Amy Lamé and those Readers Wifes and at Sunday Social it’s none other than the transatlantic dame Charlie Hides plus DJs Simon Le Vans and super dishy Adam Turner.

Indulge yourself at Ku

If you haven’t tried the lip-smacking new range of autumn and winter cocktails and specials at Ku, then stop what you are doing and head there now… you can tell them, we sent you. At Little Ku and She you can experience Pimms & Blackberry Spice, Sloe Gin Nigroni and Winter Mojito plus at Ku Lisle Street and Klub there’s a new range of Spritz delights including Aperol Winter Spritz, Melonade Winter Spritz and Spiced Rum Spritz. And, get there before 7pm each and every day and they are all only £6 each plus why not try theJubel Fruit Lager, you can get four for £12. Gorgeous.

It’s all go at The Two Brewers

This is not a drill, Jimmy and his team have a massive weekend ahead at the Clapham cabaret mothership aka The Two Brewers. On Thursday (17 Oct) you can watch episode three of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK with Tia Kofi and Vinegar Strokes from the show, plus later on there’s cabaret from Charlie Hides in his Lisa Q Jones guise. Friday night starts with the unsinkable Pam Ann in the Club Bar for more of her special brand of crazy and later there’s more Drag Race fun when The Vivienne rocks up to the stage plus DJ Phil Marriott presents Countdown in the Club Bar. On Saturday you get two brilliant acts, Poppycock at 9.30pm and later on Tanya Hyde is your cabaret star. The weekend reaches a shimmering climax on Sunday with The Power of Four when Baga Chipz joins Myra DuBois, Mary Mac and Sandra… don’t say you weren’t warned!

Cher at The Duke of Welly

OK, so Cher is not actually going to be at The Duke of Wellington, but this Saturday (19 Oct) the next best thing to seeing her at the upcoming lives shows is heading to The Welly where DJ David Robson will be playing all her hits and more. and don’t forget during the week they have some super fun nights on offer. Every Tuesday Aussie shopping goddess Sheila Simmonds hosts Busy Lady Bingo and on Wednesday it’s the marvellous Didn’t They Do Welly pub quiz hosted by the always proper and well behaved (may be a lie) Martha D’Arthur or Topsie Redfern.

Fun nights at The White Swan

If you have a song in your heart then we recommend a visit to The White Swan on Thursday (17 Oct) for CJ’s Piano Bar with hostess Jackie DeRipper where all singers are welcome. Friday sees award-winning DJ Aaran Bader spinning the hits and on Saturday it’s the totally OTT Kamp Klub with Miss Prince.

Cabaret at Halfway

There’s something cool and crazy happening pretty much all the time at our favourite glittering cabaret bunker, Halfway II Heaven at Charing Cross. Thursday (17 Oct) you can see the latest episode of Drag Race UK, then show us what you got with karaoke hosted by Kevin Walsh and on Friday there’s cabaret from both Mrs Moore and Tracy La Bouche. We love Saturdays at Halfway and this week from 4pm you get Mrs Moore, Rose Garden, Felix Le Freak and The Vixens at 10pm with DJ stud muffin Justin Swift. Sundays belong to Crystal and Kelly aka CK, on Monday there a show from the lovely and hilarious Kat and on Tuesday it’s Rose Garden and Phil Lawrence.

Old Ship stars

This weekend if you’re in or near Limehouse, pop into The Old Ship where you can see the hilarious Willma Ballsdrop on Saturday and on Sunday, lock up the gin and everything else it’s Saucy Sophie.

Plays and films at Above The Stag

The team at Above The Stag do like to keep us entertained and right now you can see The Good Scout by Glenn Chandler, the last three shows of Now & Then, the country flavoured musical, and Velvet in the studio space written by and starring Tom Ratcliffe, a fascinating one man play about a young gay actor facing moral dilemmas. Plus they have a series of special film screenings over the next week or so, including Hocus Pocus (squeal) for members. Get details and tickets at abovethestag.com

Circa The Club x 3

The great news is that you can now treat yourself three nights a week to Circa The Club on the Embankment. Newest night is We Love Thursdays which starts with a screening of Drag Race UK and this Thursday (17 Oct) they have the nighty Baga Chipz as host. Friday nights always feature amazing DJs and performers and Saturdays, gird your loins as it’s Power House, packed with world-class DJs, a party crowd and the hottest go-go boys in town, seriously they are something to behold.

This weekend at The London Hotel

The London Hotel is a really rather fabulous LGBT+ venue in Southampton and this weekend is another cracker. Friday Frolics this week has cabaret from Lucina Lashes and Miss Penny whilst on Saturday (19 Oct) it’s DJ Claire  Fuller. On Sunday Night it’s The Podium with cabaret from the always hilarious Rose Garden.
