Opening Times: Give it some Welly for 2020

If you want to see in the new decade in a mega friendly Soho boozer with a lively crowd and some amazing tunes then head to The Duke of Wellington where Oliver and his team will be throwing a fabulous party! Dave Cross had a catch up with DJ David Robson who will be delivering those party crackers on New Year’s Eve.

Hi David, are you excited to be playing the Duke of Welly on New Year’s Eve?

Hello Ms Cross! DJing to a load of excited ol’ bears in Soho with no tubes running and roads closed off? Can’t bloody wait.

What is it about The Welly that you like so much?

The measure of a good pub is its guv’nor and Oliver is our Bet Lynch. He just makes everyone feel so welcome – from the staff to the punters to the overbearing DJs – he’s an utter gent… and obviously I fancy half of the bar staff.

What kind of stuff can we expect to hear in your set?

I never overly plan a set. It’s all about reading the room. However, what I love about playing The Welly is that the audience know their shit. I get to play music you won’t hear in many other bars and clubs in Soho. It’s a new wave/disco/pop/rock/soul toe-tapper feel-good vibe – who knows where we’ll end up?

Which record are you most looking forward to playing?

Mariah’s version of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ of course. That and ALWAYS some Pet Shop Boys.

Entry is free.

The Duke of Wellington, 77 Wardour Street, Soho, W1.
