Opening Times: It’s March at The RVT

The Boyz award-winning Royal Vauxhall Tavern is at the heart of the LGBT+ cabaret scene with a true mix of events and performers. We spoke to former Boyz writer Dave Cross, who’s now Event Manager at the much loved venue, about just a few things happening in March and April.

Hi Dave, how is life at The RVT?

It’s pretty cool thank you. I’ve been here a few months and I’m very excited about new events joining the RVT family such as The Cocoa Butter Club, Homos and Houmous and H&M which is Meth and Herr.

We’ve noticed that you’ve added some new drag names to Sunday Social?

Yes, as well as our three main residents – Charlie Hides, Mary Mac and Myra DuBois – we’ve now got Lola Lasagne, Drag With No Name, Danny Beard, Son of a Tutu, Poppycock, Karla Bear, Holestar, Tanya Hyde and The Vixens all scheduled. Sundays are very important to us here and we want to keep bringing our customers the best cabaret acts around as well as our amazing DJs.

What about the early shows on Fridays?

The early slot before club nights such as Beefmince, Anthem, Push The Button and others is a great slot for newer acts or big names to try out new things. In March we have Ava Vidal, Ripley with her new Like a Sturgeon show and a brand new show from Myra DuBois, plus in April we have Shay G’Day and Crayola.

What else are you excited about?

Obviously I’m looking forward to the next Quizzarding World Harry Potter themed quiz, which I organise as a charity night for Cabaret vs Cancer, plus our Nighty Night themed night which is going to be crazy, Rubyyy Jones, Mzz Kimberly and it’s exciting that we have Divina De Campo in a special show early doors on Good Friday before Eurofest.
