On Fire: The Firefighters of France photographed by Fred Goudon for a new book

Renowned French photographer Fred Goudon’s new book On Fire: The Firefighters of France is a personally curated collection of smoking hot portraits and shots from Goudon’s wildly popular French firefighter calendars.

A sensual, sexy homage to these brave men, this new volume spotlights the proud members of fire squads from all over France, who have discarded their helmets and gear to flash their best smiles and flex their muscles.

“French firefighters have a little ‘je ne sais quoi,’ an attitude, a body language that allows me to pinpoint them in a crowd,” says Goudon. “There is a certain similarity between them all that’s visible in the way they hold their heads high. I can tell just by the way they walk, even from behind, that they are firefighters. And I’m never wrong.” Goudon’s ultimate goal with On Fire is to pay tribute to these men as well as allow his images to capture glimpses into their lives.

Beautifully shot by Goudon, the candid images taken over the past six years offer readers the chance to fulfil their fantasies by discovering what these Gallic hunks look like underneath it all – and yes you get to see them butt naked.

Smouldering black-and-white and equally stunning colour pictures uncover these everyday heroes, whether training and preparing for the call of duty or captured in gripping, intimate portraits. With their sculpted bodies on full display, this visual celebration of the masculine form, bravery, and spirited camaraderie is bound to raise the temperatures of photography aficionados and Francophiles everywhere.
