Cabaret

The Vixens at Sundowners in Margate on Friday 28th May: Cabaret review by Stephen Vowles

The Vixens – Pixie Polite and Woe Addams performing without their third band member Tia Kofi – had an immediate rapport with their Margate audience enjoying every minute of the sun drenched terrace – and later we enjoyed a lovely sunset giving the venue its very fitting name.

These ladies are like a human jukebox with just a simple push of their preloaded and programmed laptop they responded to every request and weaving in fabulously funny banter between numbers. Throughout they showed just how polished and how in tune they are with each other.

Going out into the crowd and relishing the fact that this was now possible as the restrictions are lifted, it was clear that the eager audience also were cherishing this moment of almost one to one contact with a fellow human being.

Performing two shows – 7.30pm outside on the terrace and then 11pm later inside on the stage – enabled them to demonstrate their breadth of material. The late show got a well deserved ovation albeit not standing due to the rules and regulations but still enthusiastic and highly appreciative.

Entertainment at its best.
