British girl group Sugababes with the original line-up of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy is set to delight fans with an explosive live set at this year’s Margate Pride on Saturday 13 August.

The stage at Dreamland for Margate Pride
Margate Pride traditionally takes place every August, giving revellers the chance to keep the rainbow-soaked celebrations going down by the sea across the summer. With a huge parade and parties across town, Dreamland hosts a major evening music event every year and is delighted to support the local celebrations. Previous Pride acts included Melanie C, Sink The Pink and Gok Wan.

Margate Pride gears up for its 7th year – and it’s the biggest yet!
Now in its 7th year, Margate Pride has doubled in size each year, presenting an authentic, arts and culture based festival for the whole community to get involved in. Set in the camp seaside town of Margate, the festival is known as an authentic, grassroots celebration, drawing together diverse elements of the community, with everyone from the local RNLI and other emergency services to local artists, community groups and activists joining together to support the cause.
2022’s Pride will see a two-week-long queer arts festival, culminating in the joyful Pride procession where everyone is welcome to celebrate all of Thanet’s queerness and LGBTQIA+ life. This year Margate Pride is excited to be hosting the parade once more along the Margate seafront on Saturday 13th August at 4pm.
Margate Pride said: “We are focusing on making space for our community, community groups and charities. As stated in our mission, ‘Margate Pride seeks to advance equity and justice for LGBTQIA+ people in all communities across Margate and beyond’. We represent many intersections and want to give a platform to them by inviting community groups and charities to the parade. As part of our environmental commitment, we are organising a no-float parade (this does not apply to those with mobility issues).
We also want to connect more to Pride’s roots as a protest march. While there are still inequalities in the world for LGBTQIA+ people, this is an opportunity to show solidarity. As we are only inviting community groups to walk in the parade there will be no corporate or local business presence, but we value your support and there are many ways to support Margate Pride.”
From 11am, the Oval Bandstand hosts performances and speeches from local queer artists and allies, including family storytime with drag queen Dame Jame, Boogie bounce dance class with Kanndiss Riley, The Neptunes Choir, Drag Energy workshops with JazBazMaz, Mx Margate performance with huge celebrity judges, then the Social Singing Choir perform. All before the not-to-miss rally is internationally-respected campaigner for LGBTQIA+ rights and founder of LGBT+ History month Sue Sanders, Ronnie from African Rainbow Family, Max from Not A Phase and Rob Yates deputy mayor of Margate.
