Seven Days: XXL, The Two Brewers, Admiral Duncan, Sweatbox, The Yard and more

XXL Leather

If we really have to say more than, ‘this Saturday (19 Aug) Pulse will be packed with sweaty bears and blokes in leather gear’… then you’re probably welded to the sofa and Netflix. For those of us with a heartbeat we’ll be at XXL Leather flirting with a hairy hunk in leather short shorts. Plus regular guest Fat Tony will be back behind the decks in the main room.

Cabaret at the Dunky

The Admiral Duncan is the cabaret epicentre of Soho and this weekend they have another scorcher on offer. The fun starts on Thursday (17 Aug) with Sandra and on Friday you get Miss Penny and Son of a Tutu. Saturday night it’s the turn of Vicki Vivacious followed by Lola Lasagne and on Sunday Baga Chipz is joined by Topsie Redfern. Marvellous.

Loot at the Park Theatre

This Thursday (17 Aug) Loot by Joe Orton opens at the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park, N4. This fantastically naughty play from the legendary gay playwright is back with big laughs and some decidedly dubious goings on – and it’s uncensored! Tickets from parktheatre.co.uk.

The Yard are hiring

The Yard is Soho’s most beautiful venue that has been serving the LGBT community for the past two decades. They are currently looking for bar staff to join the team and if you fancy joining The Yard then send your CV to [email protected].

Two Brewers line-up

There’s quite simply loads on offer this weekend in Clapham at the Two Brewers. Thursday (17 Aug) sees Tanya Hyde stepping up to the mic and on Friday it’s Miss Jason plus Backroom in the Club Bar with a cowboy theme. Saturday is Mary Mac and Demon in the Cabaret Bar while Chris Brogan is in the Club Bar. The whole thing reaches a sticky climax on Sunday with the Power of Three with Miss Jason, Mary and Sandra, of course!

Sweatbox Hard Up

Those lovely and we do mean lovely chaps at Sweatbox are so good to us. They now have both Hard Up Mondays and Hard Up Thursdays when guys under 25 get in for free with ID. Sounds like a plan to us, see you in the steam.

Ida Barr at Wiltons

Musical hall demi-goddess Ida Barr will be performing her show Artificial Hip Hop at Wilton’s Music Hall from Tuesday (22 Aug) to next Thursday. If you want to hear today’s classic pop slammers delivered in a Victorian style then this is your show. Tickets from wiltons.org.uk.

Trouble with Men

We’ve all had man trouble and right now you can experience Trouble with Men at the King’s Head Theatre. It’s actually three short plays: The Farce, The Drama and The Love Story in one show and it’s on until Sunday. Tickets at kingsheadtheatre.com.

DJs at Comptons

There’s more great music on offer all weekend at Comptons starting as always with Tasty Tim on Thursday (17 Aug). Friday is the lovely Zach Burns and on Saturday it’s yer man Fat Tony!

Anyone for tennis?

The Gay Tennis Group are meeting this Sunday (20 Aug) at Brook Green Tennis Courts, W6 for a free Sunday doubles session from 2pm followed by a few drinks in the pub. Sounds like a winner to us.
