Nieko from Ku Bar tells us about Ku’s Autumn plans

Those cheeky boys at Ku do love a new photo shoot and for their autumn ’17 Ku Leicester Square campaign there’s just a hint of Westeros. Ku’s ever gorge PR Manager Nieko is in Indonesia for three months but he’s still on the ball and on the phone. We had a quick transcontinental catch up.

Hi Nieko, still working hard for Ku even though you’re all the way over in Indonesia. How’s it going over there and what’s new at Ku here in London?

Hey Boyz! Gorge as ever thank you. You know we like to whack out campaigns quicker than vodka shots at Ku, and now we’re heading into autumn, the boys have been in the studio again and planning a host of gorgeous happenings at our venues.

We see you’ve just launched Ku’s autumn 2017 campaign – talk us through it.

We have recently finished two, yes two years of re-furbishments throughout the group, the latest at Ku Soho and SHE, so we’re excited to be heading into autumn 2017 with Ku at the top of its game and looking fresh! A part of this is to make sure each of our venues really has their own style, own feel, vibe and look and that includes our ad campaigns.

Last week we launched Ku Soho autumn ’17, very pop-arty feel imagery that suits Mark (Trademark) Wardel’s artwork he created for our venues. This week we launch Ku Leicester Square and you might guess what epic TV show we took inspiration from. You know the Ku Leicester Square boys can’t keep their clothes on – so they’re keeping to their habits but in a very autumn-esque (because winter is coming) way. They are ready to serve!

What special events can we expect from the Ku Group this autumn/winter?

To kick of our autumn events on Saturday 30 September we are joining forces with dating app Chappy to bring you the ‘Ku Chappy Hour’. Not only will there be drinks to grab, there will be Chappy eye candy and giveaways galore. On this date all Ku venues will also be open till 3am, with Klub running till 5am. It’s worth reminding Boyz readers that we have extra late openings the last Saturday of every month. Looking ahead, we’ve got a deliciously terrifying Halloween theme planned, and then we head into our ‘Ku 22’ celebrations. Every day our cocktail venue, The Light Lounge, is open, as well as every night Klub from 10pm – 3am. Ku Group offers you an autumn of every type of evening, drink or party you could want.

And Ku’s own cabaret?

Oh yes, every Sunday Jacqui Swallows hosts Kabaret – our weekly drag show of debauchery, gossip and end-of-the-week socialising at Ku Leicester Square from 8pm.

How has the small but sexy as fu*k Ku Soho on Frith Street been going since its relaunch/refurb a couple of months back?

Yes, Ku Soho has really come into its own after being the last of our venues, along with SHE Soho, to be re-furbed. We’re very proud of the new look – stripped back, industrial chic with heavy splashes of colour from Trademark’s artwork. Am I allowed to mention the eye candy? Well, I will anyway. Our gorgeous Ku Soho boys serve the drinks, with the latest music videos playing, as well as Soho’s gossips meeting to enjoy the vibe.

And we love SHE downstairs…

Absolutely. To any queer women out there – we are proud to run the only daily dedicated lesbian venue in London. SHE is open every night from 4pm on Old Compton Street with DJs on the weekends and countless events during the week.

What’s happening at the Light Lounge?

If you are a cocktail lover then you need to find our hidden gem: The Light Lounge. The Ku Group’s cocktail lounge that sits above Ku Leicester Square; it’s our sophisticated lounge venue open daily from 5pm, perfect for dates, quiet drinks, group celebrations or more professional outings. It’s waitress serviced with the best cocktail barmen in town. On weekends we’ve introduced DJs, and like our other bar venues, is open till midnight – after which you can strut on down to Klub till 3am!

Entry to the bar is free.
