OK, OK, so Britney bitch is headlining at Brighton Park this year. Yes, we know, we CANNOT WAIT either. But there’s so much more happening over the weekend aside from everyone’s favourite pop princess hitting the stage, including a brand new Pride Sunday In The Park festival starring disco legends Chic!
If you’ve not yet heard that THE ACTUAL Britney Spears is headlining at Brighton Pride this August then you must’ve have been living under one of those polystyrene rock on set of her Oops!… I Did It Again video. Well, she is, and we couldn’t be happier. But there’s a ton more happening over the weekend too, including a piss up of drag queens in the infamous Legends Cabaret Tent, bears galore in the Brut Men’s Tent and the Diva Girl’s Tent for sassy ladies. And that’s just on the Saturday…
On the Sunday (5 Aug), Preston Park will be jumping once again when the Brighton Pride team launch their brand new Pride Sunday In The Park event, LoveBN1Fest.
Expect main stage headline artists, performance and dance tents, family tents, circus skills, spoken word and cabaret, a creative arts and culture zone, and community stalls and food village. And if that wasn’t enough, Grammy Award-winning composer, producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers and his multi-platinum selling band Chic are confirmed to headline as well.
Famed for tracks such as Le Freak, I Want Your Love and Good Times, Nile Rodgers has written and produced for some of the most illustrious artists in the world, and his signature is scrawled across an amazing array of music. This unique set will see the band perform some of the songs from the greatest collaborations of Nile’s four-decade career including David Bowie, Madonna and Diana Ross.
And as well as being another cracking open-air party in the sun, the event will also help raise extra funds for the Pride Social Impact Fund by bringing all our communities together.
With so much going on, it’s bound to be jam-packed weekend at all the hotels in the surrounding area, so why not take the cheaper, easier, more fun option of camping out under canvas at the Brighton Pride Campsite?
It’s always filled with an amazing celebratory atmosphere from Friday to Monday, making it a three-day weekend, and with early bird prices frozen at £12.50 per person per night it is probably the most cost effective accommodation in the city over Pride weekend. There will also be a special Pride bus service between the Pride Campsite and the city throughout the weekend to make sure you don’t miss any of the fun.
And finally, because of a certain pop princess, obviously the demand for tickets this year was unprecedented and the allocation of 10,000 first release tickets sold out in record time. To enable as many Pride supporters to attend the Pride Festival in 2018, tickets will be released in two further batches with the Second Release on sale from this Thursday 1 February with the Third Release at Easter.
