Consumables at the Vault Festival: Review by Stephen Vowles

Having first seen Matthew Kyne Baskott’s play in October last year, I was intrigued to see how it looked and felt now in its revival as part of this year’s Vault Festival.

The conclusion: fabulous! It’s a much tighter piece now and the comedy within is delivered which such an air of confidence and panache, especially by Susan Aderin who plays nosey neighbour Mrs Joseph. Michael Hanratty who plays Blaize and Timothy Harker who plays Leonard are just terrific to watch, with each complementing the other’s style; the chemistry between them is awesome. The play deals with OCD, sexual frustration and perversion, death and the need for human company.

The play remains provocative, darkly comic, poignant and hugely funny and very much worth a view. Highly recommended. It will open your eyes. A theatrical feast.
