Seven Days: Ku Bar, XXL, The RVT, Halfway and more

Ku what a wedding 

The whole world will be watching the royal wedding this Saturday (19 May), and you can watch it live on TV from midday surrounded by hot boys with a glass of something cold and bubbly in your hand at Ku Bar Leicester Square. The Lisle Street venue will be open early for the screening and toasting of the happy couple all day.

Halfway’s weekend

Heather and her very royal family at Halfway II Heaven start the weekend with Meghan’s hen party and shows from the marvellous Tanya Hyde on Friday (18 May). On Saturday you can watch the wedding live on the big TV screens followed by cabaret from Mrs Moore at 4pm and Rose Garden at 5pm, topped off by The Vixens at 10pm with music from Justin Swift. And Sunday is of course their royal highnesses CK from 3.30pm with all the usual shenanigans.

XXL Lumberjack 

If you are well and truly over it by the time Saturday night comes around, then why not escape the royal wedding crazy with a trip to Pulse. This Saturday (19 May) it’s XXL Lumberjack – think loads of furry fellas with their choppers out – and you get tunes from DJ royalty Fat Tony plus those princes of the decks, Paul Morrell and Alex Logan, plus of pop Joe Egg and David Robson.

Cancer is a Drag Fundraiser 

At the London Hotel Southampton, Darren and Pete mark their 5th anniversary this Sunday (20 May) with a Cancer is a Drag Fundraiser starring Miss Penny, Chamonix Aspen, Lucinda Lashes and Son of a Tutu live on stage. Doors open at 7pm and the funs starts at 8pm.

Your RVT weekend 

It’s another cracker of a weekend down in Vauxhall at the much loved Boyz Award-winning Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Thursday (17 May) is officially the start of the weekend when Drag Idol is on and this week it’s heat three. Friday is Beefmince and Saturday it’s what else but Duckie with the best pop in town. And things reach a climax in tartan on Sunday (20 May) when Mary Mac shakes that haggis at Sunday Service.

The Royal Wedding at the Old Ship

If you want to experience Harry and Meghan’s big day in the East End in style then head to the Old Ship in Limehouse. They are showing it live on TV at midday, followed by something called the FA Cup Final (we have no idea) and at 9.30pm you get a royal rumpus from Mary Mac.

Cybil’s House Grand Theft Homo II

This Saturday (19 May) Cybil and the gang at the White Swan are encouraging you to dress as pimps, hookers and gang members at Grand Theft Homo II. There will be performers and DJs and a crowd dressed to impressed in the style of the infamous and mega successful game. Tickets via bjswhiteswan.com And, before all that it’s Drag Idol heat three with Jacqui Swallows.

Celebrate at Comptons 

Celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the heart of Soho this Saturday (19 May) when Comptons opens its doors from 11am. Expect several special drinks deals, splendid surroundings and second-to-none bar service. We recommend you get there early as well, to ensure you get one of the best seats in the house.

George Michael celebration 

This Saturday (19 May) sees the second celebration of George Michael on Hampstead Heath. George Michael Wants You is back and it has an alternative royal wedding theme with people dressing in wedding dresses. It starts at 1pm and it’s at Golders Hill Park bandstand – nearest tube is Golders Green. The event will also help raise awareness of the work of the Outside Project, which supports and campaigns for the homeless LGBTQI+ people.
