Your RVT bank holiday weekend

It’s a Royal weekend ahead…Don’t panic, we are not talking about another wedding, but we are referring to the queen of LGBT+ venues, the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. As always there’s a gorgeous smorgasbord of delights on offer, and here’s the trailer!

Drag Idol

Thursday 24 May, 7pm – midnight

The RVT Drag Idol heats this year have all been sensational and this is the last one before they choose their champion next Thursday (31 May) to go forward to the semi finals. If you want to see exciting new acts this is the heat and the marvellous Son of a Tutu is due back this week as your host (she says she’s been ill, and we would never suggest that she’s really been in a Swiss clinic having her blood replaced with that of a 23 year old Drag Race finalist…)

Push The Button 5, 6, 7, 8

Friday 25 May, 9pm – 3.15am

The weekend starts properly tonight when those masters of the scene Push The Button will be paying homage to the greatest British pop band of the past 20 years, the mighty Steps. This is the night that the Summer of Love really starts, where you can Stomp all night and not be Scared of the Dark. Plus you also get the usual mix of classy pop such as Robyn and Gaga to Aqua and Schlager.

Duckie

Saturday 26 May, 9pm – 2am

Quite honestly you haven’t really experienced gay London if you haven’t been to Duckie at The RVT on a Saturday night. Hosted by the gorgeous Amy Lamé with Jay Cloth on the door and those Reader’s Wifes supplying the quality pop.

Sunday Social with The DE Experience

Sunday 27 May, 3pm – 3am

It’s bank holiday Sunday so gird your loins because today we get 12 hours of the totes amazeballs Sunday Social. It’s a unique mix of big bad club anthems from DJs Simon Le Vans, Andy Almighty, Liam Chaplin and Sean Sirrs, while the jewel in the tiara is none other than The DE Experience on stage at 5.30pm for laughs and sing-alongs.

Anthem Retro Monday and Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

Bank Holiday Monday 28 May, 3pm – midnight

As it’s bank holiday Monday, you don’t need to work, but you do get a double helping of Edna! Yep, The DE Experience is back for her second show of the weekend, along with DJs Simon, Andy and Sean. The laughs will come thick and fast and the songs will be 100% gorgeous, so don’t forget your singing muscles as Edna will expect a full voiced RVT choir. Plus outside on the ‘grassy knoll’ aka the Pleasure Gardens you will find the annual Tea Party from 1pm till 6pm. This ‘crazy mad afternoon’ is a fundraiser in aid of Cancer Research and features all kinds on bonkers fun including games inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
