Matthew Campling’s skill as a playwright once again shines through with Ghost About The House. The show is an utter delight from start to finish. Campling’s attention to detail – and the correct conversational style his characters utter – is very clever. His ability to evoke the drawing room manners of 1930’s England and then those of modern times is fabulous. With a superbly cast group of actors, the comedy is simply superb. There’s a stand out performance from Joshua Glenister who plays the Ghost and also as Ian stealing every scene he is in. His interplay with his fellow cast members is just brilliant. This is a comedy of manners, love and lust, social manipulation and dalliances between people that do have consequences. Campling has created a very sophisticated comedy in the style of Coward and Wilde. A very clever farce. Check it out.
