Royal headlines at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern is the cherished LGBT+ venue that has something for everyone 52 weeks of the year, including Duckie every Saturday, the Big Bingo Show on Mondays, Bar Wotever on Tuesdays and Sunday Social, plus shows by big name acts, club nights and much more. Here’s a look at a few nights this week and what’s on for Pride.

This Is Not Culturally Significant – Thursday 28 June, 8.30pm – midnight

This Is Not Culturally Significant is the hugely popular one-man show from Adam Scott Rowley that has sold out in both Edinburgh and London, and now it’s at The RVT. It’s a brutally intense, darkly comic show that unveils the bizarre, compulsive and eccentric nature of humanity, and is performed by Adam entirely in the nude.

Push The Button – Into The Groove – Friday 29 June, 9pm – 3am

For the week before Pride those pop heads at Push The Button wheel out the big guns as they celebrate the undisputed queen of cool pop music, her Madgesty, Madonna. The whole place will be going Crazy For You all night and there are performances, a contest for the best dressed Madge of the night and all her biggest hits.

Duckie – Saturday 30 June, 9pm – 2am

Next weekend is the big Duckie Pride night party, but tonight it’s all the crazy as usual with great music, bonkers shows and a crowd as queer as they come.

Sunday Social with Kandi Kane Baxter – Sunday 1 July, 3pm – midnight

Sunday Social is a unique mix of pumping club tunes and world class cabaret, and this Sunday the show will be very special. Charlie Hides has managed to coax the gold-digging hussy that is Kandi Kane Baxter into the spotlight for a rare confessional. Where the hell has she been? Did she drink all the gin and has she spent all the money now?

Pride Week at The RVT – Wednesday 4 – Sunday 8 July

As you might expect, there’s loads on offer for Pride week at The RVT starting on Wednesday (4 Jul) with the return of new drag showcase Haus of Royalz and their new night #Freedom – No One Is Illegal. On Thursday the gorgeous Rubyyy Jones is back with Queerlesque Showcase 9, celebrating her most recent performance graduates and their diverse bodies and developing body of work. Get ready for a swirl of queer performance, queer bodies, feminist themes and glittering debuts!

On Friday you get two events: early on it’s Fake TV from the hilarious Roland Saunders as he takes on a host of celebrities including Trump and Mary Berry; and that’s followed by the marvellous LipSinkers mixing cabaret and clubbing.

Saturday (7 Jul) night sees the big one, Duckie’s Gay Shame, happening not only inside The RVT but also in the railway arch across the way, complete with performers of every kind you can imagine and so much more.

And the weekend comes to an appropriate end at Sunday Social when none other than Myra DuBois will be in charge of the key to the gin cabinet. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
