Something For The Boys at Two Queens
Filmmakers Hannah Quinlan and Rosie Hastings premiere their new work Something For The Boys at Two Queens bar in Leicester this Saturday (30 Jun). The film presents a series of vignettes filmed at two locations in Blackpool’s gay district, the art deco-style Funny Girls cabaret theatre and Growlr sex club. Using these locations as the backdrop to performances by veteran drag queen Betty Legs Diamond and professional go-go dancer Ted Rogers, the film is interspersed with material from Blackpool’s local history archive. This exhibition is the first in a series of four projects at Two Queens across 2018-19 aimed at providing the opportunity for emerging artists to develop ambitious new projects through a supportive curatorial dialogue. Leather and rubber @ Eagle Cardiff
Sexy cruise venue Eagle Cardiff hosts a night for guys into leather and rubber every first Saturday of the month, which in July is next Saturday (7 Jul). Come dressed in chaps, harnesses, shorts or whatever else you fancy and you’ll get a free shot. Dress code is optional, however. Bring On Tomorrow at York Barbican
Next Sunday (8 Jul) an ensemble of stars will take to the stage at the York Barbican from 7pm, to celebrate individuality, diversity and equality, and raise money for the York LGBT Forum. Bring On Tomorrow will see international recording artist Beth McCarthy and West End performer Joseph Lycett-Barnes sing songs from musicals such as Gypsy, Rent and Hairspray, all introduced by hosts including Mr Gay Europe 2017 Matt Rood, Mr Gay Scotland 2017 Steven Whyte and HIV activist Jonathan Blake.
