Seven Days

Seven Days: XXL, The RVT, The Two Brewers, Sundowners, Ku and more

XXL Bears ‘n’ Cubs with Pagano

Following a massive bank holiday party might be tricky for some clubs, but not the multi Boyz Award-winning XXL. This Saturday (1 Sep) they are back at Pulse with an Italian bang in the shape of superstar DJ Pagano joining the residents Paul Morrell and Alex Logan on the main floor at XXL Bears ‘n’ Cubs, while in the Fur Lounge it’s Joe Egg and David Robson stirring up a pop and R&B storm.

Your weekend at The RVT

There’s another smorgasbord of delights on offer this weekend at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. It all starts on Thursday (30 Aug) with BritBears and their first film night at the venue, while Friday is Push The Button and Spice Up Your Life 2018, their much loved annual celebration of all things girl power including bus journeys from the Retro Bar and a massive club night. Saturday is of course the one and only Duckie and at Sunday Social the cabaret comes from the unquenchable Myra DuBois plus another amazing DJ line up.

Charlie Hides at The Yard Coventry

The Yard is the totally gorgeous venue in the middle of Coventry that plays host of all of the UK’s biggest cabaret stars and a mega friendly mixed crowd. This Saturday (1 Sep) they have none other than the mighty Charlie Hides gracing the stage. Brace yourself for songs, laughs and maybe just a smudge of Cher, plus it’s free entry before 2am.

Treat yourself to Tiffaney

On Saturday (1 Sep) you can enjoy a sparkling cabaret jewel when the diamond girl that is Tiffaney Wells graces the stage of the Old Ship in Limehouse, on stage from 9.30pm.

Cabaret stars at the Brewers

The Two Brewers in Clapham always has something sensational on offer and this weekend is another glittering bag of loveliness. Northern songbird Myra DuBois is back from Edinburgh and in the Cabaret Bar on Thursday (30 Aug), Miss Penny is your Friday night star and Lola Lasagne is on stage on Saturday. On Sunday things start earlier than usual with the charity jumble sale raising cash for Wandsworth Oasis from 2pm followed by the mighty Power of Three with Miss Jason, Mary Mac and Sandra.

Drag Idol double at Sundowners

We do like to be beside the seaside and especially so when we can get a visit in to Sundowners in Margate. There’s always good stuff happening at this friendly venue and this Friday (31 Aug) you can dress down for fun at their Toga Party, and then on Saturday they have something very special with not one but two Drag Idol champions, 2016 winner the outrageous Tracy Barlow AND this year’s winner, the brilliant Felix Le Freak.

Head to Little Ku

Ku Soho, or Little Ku as it’s known, is the petite but gorgeous bar on Frith Street, open seven days a week and always has a smile on its sexy face. Hot boys, cool tunes, cold drinks… need we go on?!

Halfway’s Marsha’s 50th

This Wednesday (5 Sep) at Halfway II Heaven one of the scene’s most popular bar persons, Mark, known to everyone as Marsha, will be turning 50. Marsha has been at Halfway for the best part of a decade and before that worked at the Black Cap. He will actually be working on the big day from 5pm behind the bar at Halfway, but if you want to pop down and wish him a happy birthday, then we know he’d love it. Happy birthday, Marsha!

Will You Be There Darling?

On Friday (31 Aug) there’s a new night launching at Eagle London called WYBTD, which stands for Will You Be There Darling? They describe themselves as ‘the friendly, integrated social, non-tribal clubbing experience’ and they will have cabaret from the lovely Topsie Redfern, plus the hilarious TVTV fresh back from Edinburgh and there’s music from DJ John Logan.

Balans cocktail offer

We all know it’s easy to overspend on a big weekend, but we also still need a little treat sometimes. Those lovely people at Balans know this too and at Balans Soho Society members can get their Society perks in the shape of two cocktails for the price of one Monday to Friday between 4pm and 6pm. Delicious.
