Jason Ford’s Sweatbox journal

Sweatbox is the Boyz Award-winning sauna and gym located just off Oxford Street on the edge of Soho. It’s currently closed and in the middle of a ‘million pound makeover’, the team are aiming for the end of November or beginning of December to reveal all, but in the meantime we asked co-owner Jason Ford to keep a journal of the work as it progresses, here’s a look behind the scenes and some comments from Jason.

There go the steam rooms after 5,256,000 minutes of continuous use since we opened ten years ago.

Where is this? With all of the walls ripped out, it’s difficult to get your bearings. But if you look in the middle of the photo, you can see the remains of one cabin.

Our brand new steam maze begins to take shape…

The builders are hard at work erecting steels and building partition walls.

It’s all change on the inside AND the outside as our new windows go up, complete with our new logo.

New tiles going up in the main staircase. Black is very slimming as they say.

One of the fundamental changes to the groundfloor, our new mezzanine level is going up.
