Briefs, Close Encounters at Spiegeltent in Leicester Square: Review by Stephen Vowles

Briefs is always a surefire hit and this time around is no exception. Close Encounters is a testosterone-pumping, fun-filled male on male action show that delights and teases. This tried and trusted, very sexy performance cannot fail to impress. The audience is placed on three sides of a catwalk inspired stage, getting to see all the angles of the guys strutting, dancing and performing with acrobatic agility. The Briefs performers demonstrate the dexterity and skill that the human body is capable of. A lot of imagination has gone into these routines, featuring a stripteasing astronaut and a beautiful man in a guided cage.

This is an intricate show with Artistic Director Shivanna – aka host Fez Fa’anana – having a firm grip on the proceedings. Special mention has to be made of Brett Rosengreen making his Briefs debut whose grace and balletic quality to his sophisticated dance routine was stunning to watch. This is superb entertainment that had the audience rushing to their feet when the cast took their bows. If you have not seen Briefs before, this is a must see. Highly recommended. Top quality boylesque.
