Boyz Awards 2019

Cast your votes: It’s halfway point in voting on the Boyz Awards 2019

We are now at the halfway point in voting on the Boyz Awards 2019 and nearly 6000 of you have already had your say. The voting is open until midnight on Tuesday 12 February and this week we take a look at categories covering theatre and films, but don’t forget you can also vote on bars and clubs, DJs, cabaret, saunas, community groups, shops and much more. Voting is easy via archive.boyz.co.uk. You can vote in all the categories or just in some and it only takes a few minutes. The results will be announced on Thursday 21 February at The Two Brewers.

Best Play or Musical

Last year it was Golden Girls the Musical at the Two Brewers that took the crown and they are back in the running this year with the 2018 version. But they are facing big competition from Grindr: The Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, The Inheritance, Briefs, Johnny Woo and Le Gateau Chocolat at Soho Theatre, or Riot Act.

Best Panto or Christmas Show

We’ve seen a real rise in popularity for pantos and Christmas shows in the past few years with a wider range than ever before. The last two years it’s been Two Box at the The Two Brewers with their panto versions of popular culture classics that have won the day, but maybe this year it will be the pantos at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern or Above The Stag or something more left field like How To Catch a Krampus?

Best Theatre Venue

Going to the theatre should be a total pleasure, not only the show upon the stage, but everything else and this award is for the venue you enjoy visiting the most. Above The Stag have snatched this for the past two years, but the Soho Theatre and Leicester Square Theatre have been close behind.

Best LGBT+ Film

Our film critic has picked 10 films with a strong LGBT theme or appeal that we featured in Boyz last year from big hits such as Love Simon to less commercial releases such as McQueen, 120 Beats Per Minutes or the stylish Postcards from London.

The Boyz Awards Party is on Thursday 21 February, from 7pm at The Two Brewers, 114 Clapham High Street, SW4.

All welcome. Entry is free.
