February may be the shortest month of the year, but it holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the team from Ku Leicester Square, as it was on Valentine’s Day 12 years ago that the Lisle Street venue opened. Here’s a look at what’s coming up this month at the Boyz Award-winning venue.
Six Nations rugby and 2-4-1 Heineken
Who doesn’t love watching live rugby matches on the big screen? Teams of fit blokes in those tight shorts, scrum-downs, making passes and scoring, it’s all too much! Thankfully, if you watch the matches live at Ku on Lisle Street, they are screening them all… you can have your drink of choice while you watch and the bar boys are on hand to help calm you down. Plus, every day in February from 4pm to 7pm you can get 2-4-1 on Heineken draught pints. Sorted.
Chinese New Year
Sunday 10 February
Although the actual day is Tuesday 5 February, the big West End/China Town celebrations are this Sunday (10 Feb). If you want to celebrate the Year of the Pig then Ku on Lisle Street is the perfect place, and you can be there when the dragon visits the venue to bring good luck in the early afternoon.
Valentine’s Day/12th Birthday celebrations
Thursday 14 February
12 years ago the Ku group opened the Lisle Street venue that is now known as Ku Leicester Square. It has now become the flagship venue of the group; a vital and much loved part of the London LGBT scene that’s also home to Klub downstairs and Light Lounge upstairs. Gary, Nieko and the team are still putting together plans for their birthday celebrations and we’ll have full details next week, but the venue is always a great place to spend Valentine’s Day evening. Hearts, flowers, bubbly and hot boys… how romantic.
