It’s Easter! Treat yourself from Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday

Easter means different things to different people, from the spiritual to excess of all kinds. We gathered together a fine selection of people from the LGBT+ scene for a picnic to celebrate the biggest bank holiday weekend of the year and we asked them to tell us what Easter, and this weekend in particular, means to them.

Rose Garden, Stefanos, Son of a Tutu, Vivienne Lynsey and Eileen Bothways

Stefanos

“Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead and that’s how I will feel on Easter Sunday morning after a fun night hosting at Ku Bar all night!”

Rose Garden

“Easter is my favourite Christian holiday. For those of you that don’t know, Easter is the day we celebrate Jesus coming back from the dead… as a bunny that hides eggs!”

Vivienne Lynsey

“Easter is my favourite religious holiday, not just because of the sheer amount of chocolate you get to consume but because it’s almost Eurovision.”

Son of a Tutu

“As a good Christian atheist singleton Easter is my favourite time of the year as I get to buy and eat as much chocolate I like, without the kind of stigma, pity and snobbery one gets doing the same during its sister religious festival: St Valentine’s Day. It is also a good indicator of the imminent arrival of Drag Idol and I look forward to hosting duties at London’s iconic Royal Vauxhall Tavern (Heat 1, Thursday 25 April, 8pm start) again and sucking the soul out of all the new talent… I can’t wait. Happy Easter and Much Tutu Love xxx.”

Eileen Bothways

“As a pagan, for me the time of Easter is more about getting in touch with nature and the universe rather than eating chocolate and Christian tradition. I hope to spend some of it with my witching coven and maybe go for a long walk in some woods, try to reconnect with the world and who I am outside of drag.”
